Soldiers of the Carignan-Salieres Regiment on garrison duty at Sorel in June 1666
This is the list of Catholic confirmation performed by Mgr. Montmorency-Laval of the soldiers garrisoned at the fort of Sorel in June 1666.
The fort had been built by the soldiers of the Sorel Company the previous fall. They were likely from or transferred to the Saurel company. The source is the "Registre de confirmations de la paroisse Notre-Dame de Québec".
The old text reads as follows:

Francois de la Mothe, dioc de Rouen

André Goüin, dioc. De Xaintes
Francois Chevrefils, dioc. de Perigueux
Gilles du Fort, dioc de Cornoüaille

Jean Bomenie is likely Jean Bohémier, arrived in Quebec on May 25, 1665, but not as a soldier.
Jean Béauné is Jean Beaune, known to be a soldier of La Varenne company.
Jean Faure is likely Moïse Faure from Périgueux, a soldier of the Loubias company and, with a name like that, very likely a Huguenot (Calvinist) in hiding.
Pierre Salvaye is from Torino Italy, the city of the prince of Carignano.
