QUICK GUIDE TO CORRECT
SUBJECT LINE FORMAT:

HOW TO POST Address your post to;

There are certain KEYWORDS which will help a correctly formatted
message pass through the system without moderator intervention.
An acceptable post must have a subject line with:
{KEYWORD}, {ITEM}, {LOCATION}.
KEYWORDS are... WANTED: RECEIVED: OFFER: TAKEN:
PLEASE remember to put the ITEM, and the Location, in Both
the Subject line AND in the BODY of the message.
OFFER - for items you'd like to give away
WANTED - for Items you're seeking
TAKEN - for Items you've offered once they've been claimed
RECEIVED - for items you've received as a result of your WANTED post
Followed by a brief description of the Items Offered or Wanted;
then, the Location Example: Offer: Couch, TV, exerciser: White Rock
Do not use:
• Collections like “see list” or “misc” or “garage sale leftovers”
• Begging like “desperate” or “needed” or “please read” or “!!!!”
• General solicitations like “church needs everything” or “long list”
• Unreasonable specifics like “must be in new condition” or “designer fashions
only”
Message Body:
• Any additional information needed to help others understand what your Offer is
or what you Wanted.
• General location; with the cost of fuel this is important.
• A reasonable time to respond and to pick up your offers.
Please consider allowing 24hrs before making a decision to allow everyone
a chance to reply.
We do not allow:
• Commercial messages.
• Offering or asking for payment.
• Long “signatures” pointing to commercial, (your home business),
religious, or political sites or information (please restrict your
signatures to three lines).
You do not need to put if not taken within so long will be
taken to Value Village/Salvation Army etc.

Desperate: is not to be used in a message unless it is a an
actual emergence situation.
We desperately need a new TV ours broke does not
qualify.
CHANGES:
New AND old members are put back on moderation when they deviate from protocol.
They are quickly restored to "non- moderated" when they post the next acceptable
message.
There are no notices or letters of reprimand. We assume you just forgot or
momentarily strayed from the rules.
That being said, we just need to point out a few things about WANTED ads.
STORY:
Please do not include a story of why you want something, or who it is for.
You don't have to justify your request. We kindly ask that you help us to keep
the site objective, and simply post "WANTED: Item Location".
The Body of the email will be reserved for only details necessary to explain
what the item is, your location and willingness to pick up, or a simple thank
you.
We are counting on your help and support to make this system work.
Remember the moderators are volunteers and are here to help you keep thing out
of the landfills.
