| Title: | Syntax Colouring Plugin for Eclipse |
| Course: | Advanced Software Engineering (CPSC 410) |
| Timeframe: | 09.2003 - 12.2003 |
| Supervisor: | Gail Murphy |
| Description: |
This Eclipse plugin is able to colourize source code based on
user customized XML files. Colourization is based on languages syntax rules, and is therefore known as
syntax highlighting. Developers are able to more efficiently create code in the development language of
their choice using this tool. XML files made by one author can be edited and distributed amongst the developer community. This makes it possible for developers to use syntax highlighting without spending the time to create their own XML files. This project is aimed at developers that use the Eclipse environment to create or modify source code in any language. Using XML files, a developer is able to define how keywords, comments, and strings are highlighted for a particular language. After the XML files are added to the user's XML syntax files folder, our plugin applies the specified highlighting to the developers source code in the editor window. |
