Other Art Quilts

Art quilts are so much fun. Over the years I have learned many new techniques such as thread painting, layering sheer fabrics, and free motion quilting. Here are a few quilts I have made along the way using some of the new things I have learned. And there are so many more to go!
Butterfly Ball art quilt

Butterfly Ball

The courthouse steps blocks are satin and organza overlaid on satin. A definite lesson on working with slippery fabrics! The paper-pieced butterfly blocks, designed by Patti R. Anderson, are silk, taffeta and polyester. Embellishments are vintage rhinestone earrings (one pair was my Grandmother's), beads and copper metallic yarn. 39 1/2" x 24". Private collection.
Textures art quilt

Textures

This art quilt was an exploration of textures: the shiny purple polyester and colored satins, and the rough fabrics and yarn. Glittery metallic thread and metallic-looking mylar squares complete the texture contrasts. 30 1/2" x 39". $45.00
