2005 RM250

2005 RM250

Superior Fire Power

Superior Fire Power The '04 Suzuki RM250 was awesome, dominating magazine shootouts with unmatched performance and laser sharp handling creating a winning balance that simply outclassed the competition in every way. For 2005, the Suzuki RM250 is thoroughly modified to crank out more low-end and mid-range power than ever, with power delivery that's smooth and controllable.

Of course, when our engineers get on a roll, there's no stopping them. They also refined the RM250's suspension front and rear, making it more stable and responsive on tight, technical tracks and plusher on rough, wide open courses. And if you thought this lightweight machine couldn't get any lighter, think again. Our engineers shaved weight off parts from top to bottom, making the 2005 machine a true featherweight.

The best thing about this year's RM250, though, is what stays the same. It still offers a better combination of power and handling than any competitor on the track. And that's a winning combination you can use to take home the gold!

New Engine

Redesigned combustion chamber with reduced squish height for improved combustion efficiency and throttle response

Improved cylinder port design - upper corners of main exhaust ports raised and wider secondary scavenging ports for improved engine response from mid to high rpm

Revised exhaust valve and sub-exhaust valve timing, plus redesigned main exhaust valve spring and governor spring for improved low to mid rpm power output and response

Refined crankcase design with additional internal reinforcement ribs for added durability

New crankshaft main bearing retainer - keeps main bearings in place when crankcase is split for quicker, easier maintenance Crankshaft inertia increased 3% for improved rear wheel traction control and power delivery

New transmission input shaft featuring 18 involute-type splines on clutch side, plus lighter clutch spring rate - combined features provide lighter, more controllable clutch operation and feel

Refined kick start lever and internal components for easier engine starts - involute-type splines added to kick start shaft and starter ratchet gear for quicker, more reliable gear engagement, plus reshaped kick start lever for easier kick start operation

Refined kick start lever and internal components for easier engine starts - involute-type splines added to kick start shaft and starter ratchet gear for quicker, more reliable gear engagement, plus reshaped kick start lever for easier kick start operation

New Chassis

New steering head cap seal added for improved steering head bearing protection

New titanium footpegs for reduced weight

Updated swingarm design featuring a new bridge tube behind the pivot section for increased rigidity and improved straight-line performance

Improved front fork performance: Honed internal surface of the inner tube for smoother fork movement Larger oil capacity above piston and shim stack for improved oil low at full travel Improved dust seal Refined valve settings for better overall suspension balance Improved rear shock performance: Larger inner rod diameter for increased oil flow at full compression Refined valve settings for better overall suspension balance

Redesigned chain guide for reduced weight

New seat cover material for improved grip, plus new seat foam for improved durability

Smaller front brake hose O.D. and Allen-style brake hose bolts for reduced weight

Shorter rear brake hose and hex-style brake hose bolts for reduced weight

Improved rear brake caliper design: Higher rigidity for more consistent caliper piston movement and feedback More even brake pad wear

Brake pad insulator attached directly to the pad to further reduce weight

Hex-style rear brake pad pins for easier brake pad maintenance

Redesigned rear brake disc cover with external mounting bolts for easier maintenance and reduced weight

New air/oil separator added to rear master cylinder for more stable brake performance, plus new hex-style 8mm reservoir cap mounting bolts and 5mm master cylinder mounting bolts for easier maintenance

Master cylinder control rod threaded directly to the rear brake pedal yoke eliminating lock-nut clamp to reduce weight

New aluminum handlebars - more rigid than steel construction to reduce vibration - includes Suzuki handlebar pad

New aluminum mounting spacers designed for easier installation and more secure mounting of radiator shrouds, frame covers and fenders
