ENGR 446

This 'course' is simply a technical engineering report that you have to submit to the Co-op office the work-term before your final academic term.  Yes, you have to write TWO reports during your final work-term - your regular work-term report and this one.

It's a friggin' joke.  I just recycled one of my old work-term reports by simply changing the title and date, then resubmitted it - TO THE EXACT SAME MARKER/COORDINATOR!  The irony lies in the fact that I got a better grade on it the second time around without changing a word - this again shows that all marks are completely arbitrary!  I know for a fact that resubmission of old work-term reports is done frequently.  Hell, I know one classmate who resubmitted the same report for all four of his work-terms, and all were marked by the same clueless co-op coordinator - he got credit for each one...

Of course, this is strictly prohibited on the 'Policy of Academic Integrity - Multiple Submission' section of the UVic Calendar.  But since I know that the Co-op office has no physical evidence of my resubmission (the original was not proprietary and I therefore retrieved it after marking), and as I have little regard for the capacities of Engineering Co-op Department as a whole, I have no qualms about freely admitting this.  It's a perfect example of the ineffectiveness and lack of conscientiousness of the Co-op office.

The report is graded by the Co-op office staff.  So as far as I'm concerned, it's only a justification to divert $300 of your tuition to the self-serving, self-preserving Co-op department.  Useless gits.

When you add up all the reports, labs, and papers we have to produce throughout our entire degree it totals to well over 100 works.  This requirement is just another hoop we have to jump through - it serves no practical purpose other that to pull revenue into the school.
