The Queen Alexandra Hospital (Victoria, BC) requested the design team to engineer a device for a quadriplegic patient who had partial use of one hand. The patient was confined to a reclined wheelchair, and communicated using a laptop computer mounted to his chair. The opened laptop obstructed the patient's visibility when operating his wheelchair, and the project team was instructed to design a device which could open and close the laptop with a simple switch. Key Benefits
Design team: Scott Hall, Trevor Harmon, Patrick Keller, Darcy Lane, Craig Petroff, Joost VanWoerden While this project was not intended for commercial use, special orders can be met.
