MECH 335

This course followed close on the heels of MECH 242 - Dynamics.  The material is interesting and relevant.  And there's a lot of it.

Linkages, cams, machine components, and elementary robotics (among others) are covered in this course.  Both graphical and numerical analysis are used.  The text we used (Erdman, Sandor, & Kota) was okay - it had good pictures and lots of examples.  The course pack that the prof supplied was better, and it helped that he did many examples in class.

Again, this is one of those courses which really should have been broken into two courses like Fluids I and Fluids II (at the expense of one of those 'fluff courses' like ENGR 297).  The subject matter is so important to mechanical engineering that another course could really reinforce the concepts for students.

The assignments and labs were my saving grace for this course - I couldn't write the midterm (family affairs) so 70% of my mark came from the final (both exams were closed-book).  So depending on your strengths, make sure you do well on the assignments and labs.

Again, I have all my old assignments and labs, so e-mail me and I'll send you what I have.
