I am currently employed as an engineer with Defence Construction Canada, a Crown Corporation that manages construction for the Canadian Department of National Defence. The two latest projects on which I've worked have been the $54-million Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton (named after the fleet's old repair ship H.M.C.S. Cape Breton), and the Corrosive Fluids Facility (submarine battery commissioning/charging facility). I'd love to provide more information and pictures on these projects, but I'm sure the folks in charge of my security clearance would have something to say about it... 1.
My past work at the University of Victoria has given me the opportunity to design a variety of devices, which have let me exercise my mechanical engineering muscles. These team efforts have resulted in some innovative engineering creations. Here you can find some details of the projects in which I was involved: Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle Great for inspecting hulls and dock pilings. This can't get you down to the Titanic, but can take you to 400 feet, and you can watch it on your TV! Automatic Residential Alcohol Distiller Fuel yourself or fuel your car - 63¢ per litre! Takes up less space than your microwave, and runs off a standard 110V or 220V power outlet. A device to aid a quadriplegic person to open and close their laptop computer communication device. |
