The Director of Training

Mr. Eduardo Cuevas has been the Director of Training at the Montessori Training Centre of BC since 1999. He completed AMI Primary Teacher Training in 1973 at the Centro De Estudios De Educacion in Mexico City, and is the founder and director of the Centro De Estudios Montessori En Puerto Rico Y El Caribe. Mr. Cuevas has lectured at the University of Uppsala Sweden, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinity College in Hartford CT, Milwaukee WI and in Gerona, Spain. Besides having directed his own class in the school he founded in Puerto Rico, Mr. Cuevas also has extensive experience as a Montessori School Administrator and Director of Parent Education Programmes. Mr. Cuevas is a graduate of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, and holds a Master's Degree in Primary Education from Loyola College, Baltimore, USA.

The Course Assistants

Ms. Gilda Bonnet, directs the Montessori Children's Community, the model class for the training centre. She has 30 years experience as an AMI Montessori guide, having established model classrooms for the AMI training programmes given in Puerto Rico, Spain and presently Canada.

Other staff includes album readers - all qualified AMI Primary teachers - and teaching practice is done under the supervision of experienced AMI Primary teachers.

The Administrator

Mrs. Caroline Loughran, is a founding member of the Montessori Training Centre of British Columbia Society, and completed her AMI Primary Training in London, England. where she worked as a Directress in the training centre's model Primary class. Mrs. Loughran has several years of experience as a Directress and has served at the MTC of BC in different capacities since its foundation.

Administrative Assistant

Kyla Williams has worked for four years as the Administrative Assistant and the Assistant to Gilda Bonnet at the Montessori Children’s Community. Her many years of experience as a legal secretary and her enjoyment in advocating for young children are now being directed full time in an administrative capacity.
