The past month
has been pretty fantastic. After my final exams in December, I
was able to go
home to Vanderhoof for just over two weeks. There I got to spend
time with
family and friends, eating delicious turkey dinners and
relaxing. It was
exactly what I needed after a stressful semester of school.
Since then I
have come back to Burnaby and am doing another semester of
classes. This is my
last semester of picked classes as I plan to do my honours in
the fall and next
spring. After that I will be done my degree and be able to
graduate which I am
very excited about. This semester I am taking four courses since
they are each
more credits and therefore more work than the average class. I
am taking a
restorative justice course, a women’s studies course of their
history in the
last 150 years, a qualitative research course and lastly a crime
prevention
class. So far all my classes are great and I am really enjoying
them. I think I
will probably enjoy my crime prevention class the most as it is
an extension of
the environmental criminology class I took last semester and is
very
interesting in practical ways we can prevent crime. With this
course, I will be
working in a group to design a community which would be
enjoyable to live in
and has a decreased amount of crime. This is a project that I
think I will really
enjoy.
This weekend I
am going to Hope, B.C. for a retreat with the university club I
am a part of,
UCM. I am looking forward to spending the time with friends and
enjoying the
beautiful scenery that Hope has to offer.
That’s it for
now. Until next time,
Lisa
