| Anna's story about her car |
I live in Kingston New Brunswick, which is just outside of Saint John, NB. In the summer of 1988 while taking a drive one day on the back roads near Barnesville, and there she sat! She was red in color, all of the seats were out of position, it looked like a new carpet, the transmission lines were unhooked, and it appeared that they had put another engine in her. I found out later that night that a guy named Andy (don't remember the last name) had bought her from someone down in Nova Scotia,
I bought her for $500.00 at that time it was a lot of money for me, as I had just separated with two kids from my husband. I didn't get a registration with her, I had a police officer run her serial number down in Nova Scotia, to make sure she wasn't stolen and had a new registration done for her.
I had her towed down, and really was proud of my find, as many years ago I had another cougar, exactly the same color, red with the white vinyl roof and it was not in as good shape as this one was now!

My family are all mechanics and jack of all trades, (master of most of them), so they got her running for me, there were many little things wrong with her, a year or so later I had a friend rebuild the motor, and another guy repaint her for me, I bought all of the primer, thinners etc, but when I got it back from him, there was no shine, what I heard later is that he probably used gas to thin the paint instead of the thinner I bought. He fixed a piece of frame and that was it. In 1994 I had more work done to her, I had the leaf springs redone, and drove her for another month or two in the summer.

A couple of years later, I had her repainted again, am emerald green, the guy told me that the rear quarter panel was not much good, I told him to fix it as best as he could right now, so he did that..lots of body fill and it never cracked. I then had the seats done and picked up through the cougar shops, loads of little interior parts, bought the ceiling panel and had it redone. I found out this year when I was looking around for parts that she is one of the purple cougars, I always new she was special. I was told to contact Ray Harwood which I did, and found out the story..Ray has been excellent, I joined the cougar club and have found the members very knowledgeable and willing to help with questions, mine of course are usually harder than most, especially when I tried to have it lined up, and the guy said something is wrong with the front end as he could not get it to toe out properly..everyone sent measurments pictures of the front ends, finally I took the front end from a 70 parts car I have and changed it..problem solved, apparently some parts on it were not from a cougar.

She is now being worked on getting ready for the big paint day.. the guy doing it is very slow, but a perfectionist, he doesn't believe in much bodyfill, so has made any metal parts he has needed, especially that rear panel where he found a roofing shingle, shoved in to help it hold the body fill. That of course was done before I had her.
I have ordered the paint and there is no problem getting it, we had a new rear bumper brought in, the tilt away steering, the vinyl roof I had given to me for Christmas, the emblems I bought off of ebay, and Ray painted them.
I had all of that stuff but over the years the stuff disappeared.
