ONCE AGAIN WE ARE INVITING YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN A WEEKEND FULL OF FUN, FOOD AND PRIZES IN A COMPETITION TO BE THE BEST OF THE BEST

Last year’s Derby was challenging with larger than usual losses of young birds, but with 73 birds shipped, it turned out to be just as exciting and successful as in past years.

This year’s format will once again include two races, the Sprint-to-Win and the Canuck Classic. As always there will be great raffles, door prizes and an enormous smorgasbord of food.

SPRINT-TO-WIN:

  • A 185 mile race will be held approximately two weeks prior to the big race.
  • Cost will be $25.00 per bird.
  • All monies will be paid out in prize money which will be split 50-30-20 and will be paid as birds are clocked.

CANUCK RACE:

  • Birds will be accepted in teams of four birds – three main birds and one back-up.
  • Cost is $150.00 perch fee for your team of four, plus $100.00 non-refundable entry fee for your first bird. – Total Cost $250.00 per team which is due and payable when birds arrive at the derby loft.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Birds will not be accepted without payment.
  • $100.00 entry fee for any other remaining birds is due and payable by August 31, 2007.

Birds will be flown from the east, either 300 or 350 miles depending on circumstances, September 1, 2007.The birds will be flown Natural this year.

  • Birds 22 to 35 days old will be accepted from April 7th to May 12th, 2007.
  • Birds will be accepted by any of the Derby Committee:

  • Please do not bring birds to the clubhouse without having made prior arrangements with one of the members of the Derby Committee as no-one will be there to accept birds.
  • Replacement birds will be accepted until May 31st, 2007.
  • No limit on entry teams, however space is limited to 300 birds, so get your entries in as soon as possible.
  • If there is more than one bird on the drop, the prize money will be divided among the birds on that drop up to the number of prize positions covered by the birds on the drop. Pools will be paid out according to clocking order.

AN ADDED BONUS OF $500.00 WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FIRST BIRD THROUGH THE TRAP.

  • Participants must be 19 years of age.
  • Owners may bond their birds on the coloured board for $100.00. The bid would be $60.00 in the High and $40.00 in the Low. If a bird is not bonded the bird will go to auction and the high bidder owns the bird.
  • The second board (the white board) will strictly be an auction with a High and Low.
  • The prizes on the High and Low on the coloured and white board will be: 30%, 20%, 10%, 9%, 8%, 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 1% and will be paid out by the drop.
  • 100% of the entry fees will be paid out in prize monies. The first bird through the trap will receive a bonus of $500.00. Remaining monies will be distributed as follows: 25%, 15%, 10%, 9%, 8%, 7%, 6%, 5%, 4%, 3%, 2%, 1%, 1%, 1%, 1%, 1%, 1%.
  • 12% of all auctions will be retained by the North Road Racing Pigeon Society.
  • Race is open for two days, except:
    • If no birds are home at the end of the second day, the Race will remain open for one additional day.
    • If no birds are home at the end of the third day, all entry fees will be refunded minus 10%.
