The Paddy Cock was truly a Champion of Champions!!!
1995 - FEB 06, 2009

Grizz and Paddy Cock The day Panorama Lofts closed in the summer of 2007 my good friend Kevin Ball gave me the honour of housing a special racing pigeon for the remainder of his life. Thus "The Paddy Cock" began his retirement in Grizzland Loft.

During the Winter of 2007, “Paddy” was housed in the cock section, occupying a high traffic perch 12 inches above the floor close to the feeding area. Although he had developed some arthritis in his legs, his wings appeared to be strong and he quickly secured and defended his new territory successfully from the younger cocks.

During the Spring of 2008, I built four-foot private pen for Paddy so he could spend his well-deserved retirement pampered in a truly peaceful environment. An additional perk was his introduction to my most affectionate, yearling hen and he accepted his young lady companion on his new turf content in the attention she lavished on him as she lovingly preened his head and neck.

In 2009, the year of the Ox, "The Paddy Cock" succumbed to sickness in his old age sometime during the afternoon of February 06, 2009.

If there is a truth in life after death and reincarnation, then our old feathered friend "The Paddy Cock", the old warrior of the sky is now free to fly again.
