This is an alphabet book composed of graffiti which I photographed in
the Greater Vancouver area in B.C. over the past six years.
The result is a book which celebrates the creativity and energy of a
dynamic urban art form of a younger generation.
The art has a raw uncensored energy. It is vibrant and expressive.
It speaks of pain, joy, humour and the
frustrations of life and is a way for these young people to impact
the world.
The photographs were taken in tunnels, along railroad tracks, around
old warehouses and abandoned buildings,
in skateboard parks and in the alleyways of the Downtown Eastside.
It was a wonderful photographic adventure and has resulted in the
publication of my first book "Graffiti Alphabet " - a visual tour of
the graffiti of Vancouver.
