Developing Creative and Original Projects

What elements must exist in a film that will make it truly outstanding and memorable? Is it the theme, the story, the editing, the music, the visual style, the quality of the acting, or the overall direction of the film? We will discuss what are some of the contemporary yardsticks for creativity and originality in world television and cinema.

The primary goal of this workshop is to establish the important link between creativity/originality and projects which have some chance of finding a distributor and an audience.

Assignment: Students will list 5 films from the history of cinema that they believe are original and explain why.
