The History of Hollywood Filmmaking

This will be an overview of major innovations and themes in cinema over the past one hundred years. The purpose of this workshop is to examine the strengths and weaknesses of Hollywood films and to understand how we can utilize their strengths but minimize their weaknesses in the construction of our film.

Assignment: Analyse a contemporary Hollywood film from the point of view of an independent film director.
