Working With Actors and Developing the Script

The goal of this workshop is to learn how to direct actors and workshop a script.

This is where we take participants scripts or sample scripts and we let the actor's workshop the scripts with you. We also will audition actors and have a casting director make recommendations to the directors of the projects.

Then we will have the actor's workshop the parts so we can review the dialogue, the action, the story line and overall potential of various scripts for the workshop short drama. This exercise will be videotaped and results should tell the writer whether rewrites are required. This process will give writers and aspiring directors a sense of how good the script is and where it needs to be refined.

Assignment: Examine audition tapes and begin the process of casting parts.
