Workshop 6

Tuesday June 7th, 6:30 to 9:30PM

Creative Production and Art Design

The goal of this workshop is to give filmmakers ideas on how to produce an aesthetically interesting production on the cheap and build a set design (like Napoleon Dynamite for instance).

If a film/video maker wants to produce a low budget film either as a short or as a feature, one of the most important elements that will determine whether their project makes it to the big screen is how well you use the limited resources you have. The production designer and the art director are critical in this role and when they are properly utilized, they will often find creative ways to overcome limitations. In this workshop, the scripts will be analyzed and broken down by a production designer to identify what will be needed in terms of art direction, locations, lighting equipment etc. in which to successfully shoot the film/video.

Assignment: Build a model for a set from one of the scenes and prepares ideas and materials for a set to be shot.
