Originally, Health Canada regulations were not set up to allow for botanical disinfectants because none existed and disinfectants were by definition poisonous. Health Canada is responsible for evaluating and monitoring the safety, effectiveness and quality of pharmaceutical drugs and other therapeutic products available to Canadians. 1. must not be labeled harmful, corrosive or an irritant
