The Kootenay Permaculture Institute is interested in presenting some educational programs in your community.
The courses can be presented either in english or french.
PROGRAMS INCLUDE:
Public Speaking: (for groups or events)
An Introduction to Permaculture or other specific topic can
be presented.
Day or evening presentations can include lecture, slide presentation
or discussion.
ONE DAY OR WEEKEND WORKSHOPS:
Introduction to Permaculture: This weekend workshop will introduce
the participants to the concept of permaculture design.
It can include lecture, slide presentation, discussion, hands-on and
design exercise.
Urban Permaculture Workshop: This workshop is specifically designed to present some strategies for people who lives in urban environment. It can include lectures, discussion, slide presentation, hands-on and design exercise.
Agroforestry Workshop: An overview of the different temperate agroforestry systems. How to design an agroforestry system. Site analysis, preparation, planting, maintenance, choosing the best plants, etc. The workshop can include lecture, discussion, slide presentation, hands-on project and design exercise
The Forest Garden Workshop: What is a Forest Garden? How to design a forest garden. Preparation, planting, maintenance, choosing the best plants, etc. The workshop can include lecture, discussion, slide presentation, hands-on projects and design exercise.
WEEK LONG INTENSIVE:
Fundamentals of Permaculture Design: This course covers the basic techniques & principles of permaculture design. The course also covers many of the topics listed below (in the permaculture design course). It includes lectures, discussion, slide presentation, hands-on project and design exercise.
Permaculture Practicum: This course completes the certificate course for those who have taken the Permaculture Fundamentals. This course will be a combination of design intensive & hands-on exercise. The design projects will look at both small urban design and larger rural projects. Learn more about the role of consultant and designer.
TWO-WEEK INTENSIVE:
PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE is a 72 hours intensive course combining theory with practical hands-on learning. The participants will learn the basic permaculture design principles & techniques.

INSTRUCTORS:
Gregoire Lamoureux is the director of the Kootenay Permaculture
Institute. He is a permaculture designer, consultant and teacher.
He has worked with permaculture systems for over 15 years and taught
courses in many parts of the country. Gregoire taught the permaculture
design course as a Summer Session at the University of Manitoba in 2005.
He is on the Board of Directors of Slocan River Streamkeepers and has served
on the Board of Directors of Seeds of Diversity Canada for seven years.
He is a founding member of Kootenay Organic Growers Society
and was on the Certifying Committee for three years.
Other qualified instructors will facilitate the different topics of the course.
