Hosted by the Fernie Community EcoGarden. This is our 3rd year at the Griz Days event. Several hundred people attend the craft fair which includes festival events, and our large, colourful display attracts many. The display includes Seeds of Diversity information, a seed swap, book display from members' libraries, posters about biodiversity and seed-saving, information about the EcoGarden, and registration for our summer workshops (which include a segment on seed-saving). Our members are on hand to answer questions and share gardening tips.

abundant gardens, soil nutrition, seed saving, hybrids, plant
propagation, avoiding cross-pollination, saving the gene pool etc.
You will learn how to Save Seeds. What are hybrids? Plant
propagation, avoiding cross-pollination, saving the gene pool &
other vital information concerning the ever-expanding human population.
Bring those seeds even if they are in the seedpod including
those 30-year-old seeds; someone will be happy to plant them. Suzanne
Miller will help us sort through them all.
International Food Systems Scholar presenting on Crops and Cultures: The Preservation of Heirloom Varieties
Adam Forbes was awarded the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship 'Crops and
Cultures: The Preservation of Heirloom Varieties'. For his PHD Thesis,
he is researching 'Seed Saving & Loss of Genetic Diversity' around
the world. Adam will share his travels to Ethiopia, India, Italy, Peru,
Thailand & Mexico
Gardeners and farmers old and new, are invited to come and exchange their seeds, just in time for the new growing season.
