A Portrait in the Making

My portraits always seem to emerge after the eyes are nearing completion.  I feel that the eyes are the most important feature of any portrait as they convey the emotion and character of the animal that makes it so unique.  The following pictures show how a portrait comes together using information from the  collection of photographs provided.

The first outlines and base colours are laid down first.	Deeper tones and highlights are added, giving softness and  dimension to the coats.	The background is added in detail and the second dog is completed.
