So Where is Kinlochaline Castle?
Lochaline is on the mainland part of Scotland called Morvern. From this remote spot, a ferry goes over to Fishnish on the Isle of Mull. If you take the track from Lochaline heading north directly up the side of Loch Aline (not the main A884 road which also heads north but what looks on the map to be just a track) then this track leads to the head of the loch and Ardtornish village, the site of Kinlochaline Castle built either by the MacInneses or the MacLeans (whose ruins are apparently more impressive than Ardtornish Castle and include a naked lady carved on a stone panel above the main fireplace).
Here's a Zoomable
Map from Google.
On the map you will see "Ardtornish".
Kinlochaline Castle is on the point to the left of Ardtornish.
(It should be noted that the Castle has been restored and is now a
private residence. The owner, understanding the
importance of the castle to the Clan MacInnes, does allow for group
tours which are conducted by the Clan MacInnes
society(http://www.macinnes.org).
