Fall Programs
All groups and age groups are well into their fall programs. Newcomers have had their first taste
of camping in the beautiful lower mainland and beyond. Groups have been demonstrating their
environmental stewardship, holding shoreline cleanups and camp site restorations activities.
Most groups have participated in Rememberance Day Ceremonies, and Scout age youth are planning to help out at
the Santa parade.

Group Committee & Parent News
As of September 1, 1998, the British Columbia Ministry of Education has recognized the hard work, learning and time required in achieving the Chief Scout's Award (UXST 11 - Scout 11) and the Queen's Venturer Award (UXST 12 - Scout 12). Youth who earn either of the awards receive four credits towards their high school graduation. (see attached letter provided to the Scout or Venturer in order for them to obtain their credits).
This is based on the Ministry policy that course equivalency is the process of receiving credit based on documentation that the student achieved the learning outcomes for an approved Gr. 11 or Gr. 12 course from an alternative program or at an outside institution.
Scouts Canada Ð BC-Yukon had in 1998; provided the Ministry with the program requirements for completing both the Chief Scout's Award and Queen's Venturer Award. The Ministry compared these with the learning outcomes for both Grade 11 and Grade 12 and approved these awards as an accepted Ministry external course.
A Ministry - accepted External Course is one in which students may receive graduation credit (2 or 4 credits) for successfully completing. A student who has met the criteria for External Course credit will be given such credit in the form of Transfer Standing. The use of T.S. (Transfer Standing) does not have a negative or positive impact on a student's G.P.A.

Scouting is a parent participation sport. Parents enrich the Scouting experience.
We are always looking for help in planning and supervising meetings and outtings.
If you can't help on regular basis then why not help by providing transportation
to an event, teach a new craft, or help organize a commitee,
Scouts of all ages benefit from your involvement.
