MY BELIEFS ABOUT BIRTH:

I believe and trust in the process of birth. Your body and baby know exactly what to do. Giving birth and meeting your child for the first time is one of the most amazing and memorable events in your life. Continuous, loving and experienced support can reassure, encourage, and inspire you to work with your body and birth your baby naturally.

MY ROLE AS A DOULA:

I draw on my knowledge, training and experience to provide you with emotional, physical and informational support before, during, and after the birth of your baby. I work respectfully as a part of your birthing team. This is YOUR birth experience. I fully support you in whatever is right for you.

MY SERVICES:

MEET AND GREET: This is an opportunity for us to get acquainted, for you to learn more about the role of a doula and about my services specifically. This is a “no obligation” meeting. After this meeting you can decide if you would like to hire me as your doula.

TWO-THREE PRENATAL VISITS: If possible, we should try to have two meetings between you, your partner or any other person who will be with you during labour, and myself. At these meetings I will want to become familiar with your birth preferences, including your preferences regarding management options and the use of pain medications. I also want to know your own best ways of coping with pain and fatigue and how you and your partner foresee working together.

PHONE AND EMAIL SUPPORT: I offer you unlimited phone and email support during your pregnancy and postpartum period. Any questions, concerns, clarifications, support....I’m there for you.

LABOUR SUPPORT: I or my back up are available to support you, in any way you decide, throughout your entire birthing process. I prefer that you call me when you think you are in labour, even if you do not yet need me. I can answer questions or make suggestions over the phone, as well as prepare for the upcoming birth. You can then call me when you are ready for me to join you. I will offer continuous emotional, physical, and informational support and will remain with you for 1-2 hours after the birth. I will remain respectful of your partner’s (or anyone else you choose to support you) role in supporting you.

TWO POSTPARTUM VISITS: During these sessions I’d like to help out in any way possible with your adjustment to having a new little family member. The first visit often occurs soon after the birth (either at the hospital or shortly after you get home) and the second usually within 2 weeks of the birth. We can review and debrief your birth experience. I can assist with breast feeding if required, as well as, go over any questions that may arise.
