The text for CIPHERS FROM THE MUNIMENTS ROOM: ARRIVAL was found in a book written by A.L. Burt (1947) for use over a number of years as a Grade IV school text. An image of the brides arriving in Canada from France in the 18th century, who are flanked by a large group of men has the caption "You might be surprised from the expressions on their faces to guess what the men in the picture are thinking". This continues an examination of the gendered subject position of authority, and of women as currency, and is linked to my TIKSTER work about stenographers. It also incorporates aspects of the lewd marginalia in the 1066 Bayeux Tapestry in France.
