SAVE 1999. A project about archives, public memory and private associations. Developed during the SURFACE THEMATIC RESIDENCY at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Exhibited at the BANFF CENTRE in a two person exhibition with Myra Mimlitch-Gray. Also exhibited in 2002 in DUST ON THE ROAD, an exhibition of artists from Canada and India. Curated by Peter White and Amir Ali Alibhai.

When I was about to make another major move in my life, I took many years of back issues of the South African newspaper, The Weekly Mail to the Banff Centre for the Arts. I built a reading booth (called IMPORT) in the main passageway, and put out a different copy of the paper twice each day. A video camera behind a one way mirror focused on the hands of people who read the copies. After each paper had been read I bound it in the shape of a life saver, or steering wheel, and they were exhibited in clear plastic bags at the Banff Centre gallery and the Roundhouse in Vancouver.
