Curling success comes early to one Glen Meadows curling team:

Five Peninsula curlers hit the ice two weeks before the regular fall season to participate in the 2009 BC Seniors Games which were held in Richmond Sept 15 to 19. The BC Seniors Games involves 4000 participants and 1200 volunteers representing 12 British Columbia Zones in over 25 different sports. Opening ceremonies and functions were held at the new Olympic Oval and other nearby Richmond facilities.

Lawrence Woytowich, Wayne Scott, Paul Addison, Ken Wigbers and Grant Marshall represented Zone 1, South Vancouver Island. After round robin play Team Woytowich were the only undefeated team in Men's play and were guaranteed a spot in Saturday's final game for the Gold Medal. With a 7-2 victory, Gold went to the Glen Meadows Seniors and the Silver to the Zone 2 North Island representatives from the Alberni Valley Curling Club.
