My answer:
- Our "selves"
and thus our value derive from what we do, not from what we look like
or claim for ourselves, beyond basic God-given rights. Thus,
as always happens from time to time, we do badly, our perception of
our value, our self-worth, naturally goes down if we are self-aware.
This prick of pain serves to wake us up. However if it persists
for long our poor self-worth becomes a self-defeating depression.
We must then leave our perception of our self-worth behind as we enthusiastically
try to live before we die.
