FUSELAGE

Cochrane, Alberta, Canada

Building A New Project Starting February 98

This aircraft is completely constructed using the well known Sandwich Skin consruction method. This method has a foam core material between fiberglass reinforcing cloth on all surfaces of the airplane, even wing skins and stabilizer skins are a sandwich. As in the design of the egg when the structure is whole and complete the strength is superb. The wooden forms seen below are used only as a form to allow shaping of the foam core material into the airframe shape.
Lower half fuselage form construction

Photo lower right is the seat which will also serve as a bulkhead when installed, wooden parts are the form and only the 1/4 " fiberglassed curve piece will be installed.

Above are the seat supports before they are shaped and built up with the glass sides and top plates. The seat is in place.

The plane has a center mounted control stick as can be seen below using push pull tube construction to control the elevator and the aelerons.

Below is the center mounted control stick and push rod linkage.
Below are the strakes and dorsal fin being added to the tailfeathers.

Below is the now completed 'Vision' built by Sean Ponsonby with a IO-320 Lycoming engine and now flying in Florida

Photos of my "Vision" aircraft construction will be posted from time to time
