RUDDER AND ELEVATOR
Cochrane, Alberta, Canada
Building A New Project Starting February 98
Rudder pedals are constructed of 4130 round steel with brake units for pilot only.
Below are the spar and rib componets of the rudder and elevators that are attached with carbon fiber for extra strength and stiffness.
The rudder and elevator are constructed with a core of lightweight 2 lb. foam and outer coatings of carbon fiber for light weight and stiffness, the lower sides of the elevator halves have a additional layer of fiberglass cloth to act as mechanical protection.
Below is the elevator push pull tube and one of 2 idler arms, looking aft down the control tunnel.

Below are photos of the MAC servo mounting in the underside of the left elevator.
The elevator and rudder sections will be static balanced by having a custom formed lead weight installed into a cavity in the counter balance areas ahead of the hinge line.
Photos of my "Vision" aircraft construction will be posted from time to time
