Labour leader available for comment after federal budget

Audrey Cormack, president of the Alberta Federation of Labour, will be available for comment tomorrow afternoon after Finance Minister Paul Martin introduces the federal government's annual budget.

"Like most Canadians, people in the labour movement are very interested in Mr. Martin's plans for the next year," says Cormack. "In particular, we'll be looking to see if the federal government increases transfer payments for important services like health care and education. We'll also be interested to see if they have any credible plans for creating jobs -- especially for young people."

The budget will be introduced in the House of Commons at 2 p.m. Alberta time. Cormack will be available to answer questions after Martin has finished reading his budget speech.
