Unions set to release "report card" on Alberta economy
Are working Albertans benefiting from the boom?
EDMONTON -- The Alberta Federation of Labour will be holding a news conference later this week to release its second annual "report card" on the Alberta economy.
The news conference will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21 in Salon B of the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel. The hotel is located at 10010-104 Street in Edmonton.
"Over the past several months, newspapers and magazines in Alberta have been filled with stories about rising profits, shrinking unemployment and booming investment," says AFL president Audrey Cormack.
"What we're trying to do with our report card is find out if the benefits of all this economic activity are really trickling down to ordinary working Albertans."
At the news conference, Cormack will summarize the AFL report and answer questions from the media.
