Terms of Reference

Health and safety of Alberta workers is under constant and increasing attack. The AFL has listed health and safety as a priority in terms of the work of this Federation. Therefore, the Health and Safety Committee shall:

  1. Lobby to improve legislation and its enforcement.
  2. Lobby to establish mandatory joint committees.
  3. Undertake rank and file education.
  4. Initiate public awareness campaigns.
  5. Establish dialogue through conferences.
  6. Build and maintain a province-wide network of health and safety activists.
  7. Revitalize educational efforts.
  8. Promote worker health and safety on the job site.
  9. Work with the Political Action Committee on matters related to the above.
