Cathedral, Vancouver, before becoming Rector of St. Alban, Richmond, in March 2004. While at the
Cathedral, Margaret was actively involved in various social ministries,
including Secretary to the Board of Women’s Information and Safe House (WISH

The UNCSW is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and
Social Council. It is dedicated to gender equality and the advancement of

representatives of Member States gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to evaluate
progress on gender equality, identify challenges, and to set global standards
and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and the
advancement of women worldwide. Margaret has returned from the United Nations
eager to work with local schools and organisations on policies and challenges
concerning the rights of women and girls.
Margaret is advocate

Alban, extending support to those people experiencing homelessness in Richmond. She works with
the Richmond Poverty Response Committee, Faith Housing Initiative and
Richmond Shares.
The Rev. Cornish
helped initiate the building of the Richmond Peace Labyrinth at St. Alban,
and co-ordinates associated programs of peacemaking and inter-faith
discussion and action. One of the key goals of the Peace Labyrinth is to
bring diverse members of the Richmond
community together to enrich lives by reducing social isolation and promoting
mental and spiritual health regardless of age, gender, physical ability, or
faith. The Richmond 2010 Peace Project honoured the Peace Labyrinth with a
‘Champion of Peace’ award.
Margaret is deeply
committed to local social justice work through partnership with others. The
community of St. Alban collaborates with many Richmond agencies including Touchstone
Family Association, Family Services of Richmond, Turning Point, Richmond
Youth Services, Richmond Addiction Services, Richmond House (Salvation Arm),
Theo, Richmond Mental Health, Girl Guides, Scouts, Air Cadets, and other
denominations and faith groups.
