Identify

Lunar Calculator provides two identification utilities. The first is the "floating label" . You can toggle this on or off through the Edit Menu "Crater label". Your preference is saved in the configuration file when you save on exiting the program.

The floating labels are only a subset of the full database. They show up only for the plotted craters in order to make the interface more responsive.

If there is a feature you wish to identify, at any zoom level, but it is not plotted, then do a right click and choose "Identify". Even though you move your mouse to click the menu item, the position will be where you first clicked on the image:

An "Identify window will pop up on the left, listing a number of features in order of increasing distance from the clicked point:

The mouse will jump to the center of the first feature in the list. As you use the up/down (even left/right) arrows to scroll through the list, the mouse will jump to that feature automatically.

Note to DEMO users: although smaller features are in the database, the demo version will not identify craters smaller than 3km or 1.8 miles (it will still find landing sites).
