New features:
Version 2.2 June 4, 2005:
New features:
Fixed bug:
Bug in libration search, where the year did not change, though the rest of the data was correct.
navigation box
dynamic bullseye scale
point to point distance
Tabular libration, colongitude, rise, set output (every x days).
Elongation and illumination added to many tables.
The IKW (Isabel Williamson) Lunar Observing Program objects from the RASC.
Recent modifications (January, 2005): (thanks to Bob Bradlee for the ideas!)
- The search utility for photo-ops now includes any alt-az, with filters for how much phase and range of solar altitudes. In other words, you can search for cases where the near full moon shines down the MIT corridor after dark, or when it shines through an archway or above the Eiffel tower. All you need to know is the specific alt-az to start.
Modifications for beta testers of the Jan 9, 2005 version:(thanks to Bob Bradlee for the ideas!)
- Added Rise/Set info for today's calendar date on the main info panel at left.
- Created a whole new multi-utility for searching for photo-ops
e.g. rising full Moon over user specified landmark (azimuth), setting full Moon, crescents
you can create your own file of landmarks (hundreds!) and what Alt-Az range they each need.
- Azimuth and times of moonrise/moonset
- Français! lc_fra.txt
- Fixed the bug for those who have large displays and use larger fonts, which caused some labels on the left to extend into the image.
- Added the File Save onto the File menu, as some people look for it there.
- On the settings page, you can choose the width of the lines on the wire view and grid overlays.
- On the settings page, you can modify the "Half width of view in lunar radii", in other words you can change the amount of black space around the Moon at the lowest power. If you want the Moon to take up half the image, then type in 2.0.
- During animation, you can specify a limit.
- During animation, you can automatically save the image to file, with a partially flexible naming convention (useful for calendars).
Fixed bugs:
- Floating caption bug #1: When the cursor is moving ON a caption, the image below cannot "see" the cursor, so does not update the
coordinates.
- Floating caption bug #2: When using the arrow key to move the cursor in identify, sometimes the caption will be absent. Going from the other side of the list will show it.
Known Bugs:
- Note about language: there are some aspects of dialog boxes that I cannot change. For example, while I can change "Save as", I can't seem to change "file type" at the bottom. Most of these should be taken care of in Windows' Regional Settings.
- When the output image is set above 1200x1200, some sectors are missing. This turns out to be a fundamental limitation of the internal components that were used. This will be rectified for version 3.
- The libration graph has a "duplicate annotation ID" error on *some* Win 95 (but not 98 or XP).
ToDo (later version):
- Enable help hints on menu items
- Ingest photos and match orientation for crater overlay. (not for Lite)
- suggestions/ideas etc. welcome!
