Worked as a Railway Good Guard on the N.U.R. (Northern Union Railway) from the age of 7 years old. Wore skirts at that age, they didn't put boys in trousers in those days.

Originaly came from Yorkshire, possibly Ozzletwistle.

8. Carrie JOHNSON-186

My mam's family always called her Auntie Carrie. She took to drinking after the death of her husband "Unlcle Oz" and drank herself to death. Had a daughter named Caroline. Married a chap who was in ENSA, possibly a comic, the war time Entertainment section of the forces. They had children but my mam did not know his or their names.

Oswald GREEN-187

Worked at a Lard works in Trafford Park, Salford. Fell into a vat of lardand died of complications due to the burns. My mam's family always called him Uncle Oz.
