• BalennChapter Eleven   "Region Six"

  • Region Six, is the area of our planet, where our homing device is located. We approached Region Six from one side, rather than coming down on it, from the center. Had we approached Region Six from above, it would have looked much like a floating space station. It is not, of course. It is firmly locked into the Balenn structure. It is used extensively by all of us, who travel, said Beenan. You could call it a power assist for when we wish to return home quickly.

The sphere slowed, as they approached what looked like a lake, made of glass. By earth measurements, said Beenan, this lake is three hundred kilometers long and two hundred and fifty kilometers wide. It has a greenish tint, like real water. It is, of course, not water at all. It is one of the grids used in our homing device. The sphere passed over the lake, to a point where a stream entered. It then followed the stream to its source. The source was a huge dome, about thirty acres in size. This is the control center, said Beenan. There are lakes all around this dome, almost exactly like the one we passed over. This dome is the hub of the wheel, so to speak. You can't see them, but from inside this dome there are tiny threadlike beams, projecting outward, to every Ehesti who is traveling. The counter shows approximately four hundred million Ehesti out in the universe and beyond. When they wish to return home, they merely think themselves onto these threads. The threads take them straight home, like a rope tow takes you back up the mountain. The energy we use to get home is far less than if we transposed home, without the threads. Anyone in the path of one of these invisible threads can also use them. Your visit here automatically gives you a thread also. For the rest of your life, you will be attached to Balenn with your own thread, for you to use whenever you please.

But why is "all of this" necessary, asked Cliff? We have found in our travels, others with powers we have and some with even more. These beings with more power can block our return to Balenn. They exert an over-ride force that inhibits our ability to transpose. Although we cannot be killed or injured, said Beem, we can be detained by these beings. We needed something to help us overcome this detention. This complex is it. We have not yet found any life forces that have the power to overcome the pull from Region Six. In a sense, you could say that we can never get lost. While this homing device is activated, any Ehesti, no matter where he is, can get home with just the slightest thought of returning. Normally, to transpose, it takes concentration, but to get home does not, even though it is transposing also. When we are blocked by these life forms I told you about, we have to concentrate on home, to get there. It overpowers our blockers, who can no longer detain us. All attempts to communicate with these life forms have been in vain so far. We don't believe they realize they have the blocking power that we spoke of. We seem to be like a new toy to them. It is as if we are being played with, by a large powerful baby. When they block our travels, we read the same vibrations as we get from a child, reaching out to stop a ball from rolling past him.

A special group of Ehesti, are working on the problem, and we should make more progress soon. Your people have experienced what it is like to be trapped away from home, not knowing when, if ever, you will get there. It is not a pleasant feeling is it, asked Beenan? No, indeed, replied Kelly. Region six insures that we can return anytime we wish. Do we get to have a look inside, asked Cliff? We will take you in, replied Beenan, but don't expect to see much. In your astral form, you will see every little detail, but almost none of it is visible to the naked eye. They hovered around the perimeter of the huge dome, as if looking for a door. They stopped near the top of the dome.

Their sphere passed right inside the larger control dome. Inside were various shaped blocks of glass that looked like ice. A glass control panel, glass wheels and even suspended glass objects that just seemed to float. Bishop's voice came up again. This journey is a preparatory step to your next astral trip, when you will meet all of us. It is not evident to you now, but there is a tremendous amount of energy being generated from this dome. It is like this dome, is a giant vacuum center, with tentacles going out in all directions. You have seen the effects of a tractor beam in your science fiction movies? This is somewhat similar. The high energy tends to destabilize the entire planet, from time to time. Special groups of Ehesti are working on that problem also.

The energy diverted through this complex, also affects our own forms slightly. We take on slight physical properties in this dome. Look carefully throughout this sphere and try to spot the Ehesti people in here. They will look like tiny wisps of blue smoke at first. I think I see them, said Kelly. You kind of have to look out the corner of your eye to spot them, but if you look straight ahead, they will appear about forty-five degrees off to each side. I think I see them, said Sarah. They are moving around sporadically, in all directions, like a busy ant hill. They are hardly visible, but once you spot a few of them, they all seem to come into view. The blue smoke is quite distinctive now, said Sarah. Look closely at the smoke. The music came back up. Look, Allen pointed to a wisp of blue smoke only a few meters away. There seems to be a face forming in the smoke. It smiled and drifted away. Other wisps of smoke came up to them. Faces appeared in all of them.

The music changed inside their dome, to choir music. These smoky faces seemed to be singing along with the choir music. The puffs of smoke divided and divided again, until there where thousands of them, each with their own individual faces. To add to the party, Beenan, Beam and Bo transposed back to their own Ehesti forms and there were three wisps of blue smoke inside the dome with them. The faces were exactly like their own Sasquatch faces. Can we speak to one another, with you guys in that form, asked Allen. Of course we can, replied Beem. We don't produce the sound by pushing wind through a reed like your larynx, but we can produce the sounds, by vibrating the air. Our forms oscillate at the same speed as your audio range and the air around us vibrates also, transferring that sound to your ears. We are also maintaining a much higher frequency that you can see and not hear. Thus, the shape you see before you, of our faces. When you see us with your astral eyes, we will look much more attractive said Bo. We might even sound better. Bo was joking, but no one reacted, so he didn't pursue it further. You sound the same, except deeper toned, said Allen.

We will now switch to our real Ehesti faces, said Beenan. The smoke shifted a little. In the smoke they could see skinny, drawn out and almost human like, faces. This is how we will look on the astral trip, said Beenan, with a smile. Their faces were surrounded by a border of the bluish smoke. Where their necks would be, the smoke tapered down in an inverted teardrop appearance. Beem began deliberately distorting his face, to get a laugh. He stretched his mouth to about five centimeters wide. He played with his nose, until it was the size of a baseball. He made his eyes look triangular and uttered a beeping sound. Marie was watching all this from the beginning and it made her laugh. Just like watching a circus clown, she said laughingly. Beem returned his face to normal, before Bo and Beenan got a chance to see what he was doing. How's my voice now, asked Beem? Your voices did not change, said Kelly.

No, said Beem, we try to keep our own voices, no matter what form we are in. We will hang around like this for a while, so you can get used to our appearance for later on the astral plane. At least we don't take up so much space now, said Beem. Yea, said Kelly, but now you can't enjoy a chocolate or smell the flowers. That's true, add Beenan, but we have strong memories, that can almost materialize. You might try that sometime, said Beenan. Imagine your favorite food for example and try to sense the taste and smell. Try to make the food appear as real as possible in your mind's eye. It is good psychic exercise and the first step in creating matter.

Beem made it look like he was combing his hair. Are we going to look like that, when we astral travel, asked Marie? Not quite, because you are not Ehesti, but your form will be as flexible as ours. Here, let me show you, said Beem. Two hands formed, just below his face. He grabbed a handful of smoke and stretched it as though he was stretching toffee. He kept toying at it, until it was finally shaped to look like Goofy, the Walt Disney character. Bo began the same ritual, until he looked exactly like Donald Duck and Beenan looked like Mickey Mouse. Everyone laughed and clapped. They started tugging at themselves again and this time, Bo became Elmer Fudd, Beem became Bugs Bunny and Beenan became Cinderella. This shows you how flexible you will be when you enter the astral plane, said Cinderella. Their antics were directed at Marie mostly, because she was the only one in the group most reluctant to astral travel. The Ehesti knew that if they kept her happy and showed her how much fun it could be, they could reduce her anxiety about astral traveling. It was working. Marie was pleased. The Disney characters stayed around for a while and kept everyone amused.

Outside, the wisps of smoke had changed themselves into the shape of birds, of all varieties. They flew around the sphere, chirping and having a great time. All these forms are not quite physical, said Cinderella. Beenan retained his deep voice, even though his shape had changed. The radiating power from within this dome assists in giving the illusion of reality. Beenan walked around the room to get closer to everything. He was still Cinderella, so his dress was trailing behind him. His form was so loosely held together, that the trailing edge of his dress dissolved into smoke, as he walked. Beenan still looking like Cinderella, made a quick curtsy, as he walked in front of Allen. Everyone laughed. We know it's you Beenan, laughed Allen, but those words just seem funny coming from sweet, dainty Cinderella. Beenan was pleased that his chosen form invoked laughter. He knew that everyone was at ease and enjoying themselves.

Beenan, Beem and Bo passed through the sphere, out to where all the birds were. The birds all lined up in formation, with Cinderella, Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny at the head. Elmer began chasing Bugs Bunny with his shotgun. Bugs was too quick for Elmer, of course. Every time the buckshot came at him, he leaped up to let it pass under him. Cinderella had her magic wand and each time she waved it, the background that Elmer and Bugs were running over, would change. The chase continued until Cinderella made the background change to water. Elmer and Bugs found themselves swimming for their lives, until the birds swooped down and rescued them. They brought Bugs and Elmer back to where Cinderella was waiting. They resumed their earlier formation and took a bow.

Everyone began tugging at themselves again, until the birds had all turned into toy soldiers and the Disney characters became the Three Musketeers. The three musketeers were riding on shady looking horses, with white tails. A winding dirt road appeared and the horsemen headed down it, with their army marching behind them. The first section of soldiers all had musical instruments, which they were playing loudly. They were followed by the rifle bearers. They paraded around through space, as if walking on earth. They stopped again in front of the sphere, to make one last change, for the finale.

The three musketeers became little toot the engine and the ten soldiers became the cars on the train. The train chugged along the invisible track and even shot out puffs of smoke. Each car in the train had a different smiling face on it. The faces were all saying "click, click, click, click" and the engine and coal car were saying "chug, chug". The train came to a stop. The first ten cars, including the engine, broke away from the rest of the train and formed the number six. The rest of the train wrote the word Region. That was a beautiful finale, said Marie. They all clapped. The cars returned to their original shapes of faces in blue smoke.

Beenan, Beem and Bo returned inside the dome with the others and transposed back into their Sasquatch forms. I was beginning to forget what you guys looked like, joked Cliff. You became so many different characters in the last few minutes. I wasn't sure how you would materialize. I guess we should have rehearsed a little more, said Beem. I wasn't quite sure what we were doing for a while there. Okay, Captain Bishop, let's get out of here, said Beenan. As you wish, replied Bishop, sounding more like a butler. The sphere began to move again, passing out of the dome and upward. They rose to a point where they could see the huge dome, as only a tiny dot and the lakes around it formed a huge, pie shaped wheel. The entire complex did take on the shape of a space station, as Beenan had mentioned earlier.

The Ehesti in the control dome of Region Six, applied power to the outer lakes, making them glow with various colors. It was a farewell gesture from Region Six. Finally, the entire area disappeared in the distance. The music died down. That was Region Six, said Bishop, your last stop before dinner. You have thirty minutes before dinner is served. The sphere began to accelerate, back from the direction it came. The space they traveled through was almost completely void of particles or any type of matter. It was difficult to tell, if they were in motion. So that was Region Six, said Allen, trying to end the silence. It would sure be nice to have a device like that on earth, said Cliff.

Just before we leave Region Six, said Beenan, I would like to mention one more thing about the homing device. If any of you are astral traveling and you run into a block that you cannot seem to control, you would naturally return to your physical bodies, as an escape. Region Six's homing device will work for you as well. Instead of returning to your physical forms, concentrate on Balenn. The power of your thought, combined with our homing device, will override any blocks that can be put up. You will arrive on Balenn, where you may pick up some of us to return and remove the block with you. You may want to return home, without confronting the blockage if you like, but we usually investigate every blockage thoroughly, in an attempt to understand the underlying motive for the block. It will probably be quite a long time before you are confronted with that problem. Less than one percent of our voyages are blocked.

Now you can put your cameras away if you like, unless you want to film dinner. That was our last journey, except for the astral plane, after dinner. Your Region Six is very impressive, said Allen. The rest of your show was fantastic, but Region Six makes the most sense I think. I agree, said Kirby. When you do the traveling that you Ehesti do, a place like Region Six would be a good idea, even without any blocks. I was beginning to wonder what there would be to do on Balenn, said Cliff. With all your powers, it would seem that you needn't do anything at all. Now I see what you occupy your time with. You sure don't waste your time cutting lawns or driving twenty kilometers to work every day. There is more, replied Beenan. On our next trip, you will see even more busy Ehesti.

Wow, thought Sarah, we have made some friends way out in the universe. That is fantastic. How am I going to explain all this to my husband? He will think I was asleep all day, dreaming this. He will probably think the film was animation and the whole thing a hoax. Beem heard her thoughts and replied. It is a tough task, he said, trying to change the beliefs of another. Your husband may never believe you about this, but that is not important. He will grow at his own speed. I know it would be better if he could share your advancement of the psyche, but he does not venture into the unknown, like you do. He has not overcome his fears as well as you have. If you try to push him into it, you will only make it worse, so enjoy your new growth and try to laugh with the criticisms you will get. Remember, you can come to Balenn to reaffirm your beliefs, whenever you wish, now that you have seen Region Six. Thanks, said Sarah, we will handle it okay. She smiled and continued packing her film.

Kirby was hungry and dreaming of all kinds of surprises for dinner. He knew their dinner would be an event and he was ready. He had his last roll of film in his camera and all was set. Bo was standing close by, so he decided to ask him a question. Bo turned around, ready to answer the question, before Kirby had even asked it. Bo knew the question, because he read Kirby’s thoughts. I can't say for sure about your future, for the reasons Beenan explained earlier, but I can tell you if the path that other worlds, progressing similar to you have taken. They eventually wound up eating food derived from animals, vegetables, insects and even mineral or rock formations. Does that answer your unasked question, smiled Bo? It sure does, replied Kirby. I'm sorry, but I forgot about your inability to predict the future. That's okay, said Bo, sorry to jump the gun on your question.

Marie and Kelly were talking about astral traveling. Did the Ehesti show you how to astral travel, asked Kelly? Yes, said Marie, but I have been too chicken up until now, to try it. After our post supper journey, if it is a pleasant experience, then I might try it when I get home. Here is a copy of my notes on how to do it, if you like. She handed Kelly a photo-copy of her notes from that first day in the lab. Kelly read with interest. This looks relatively simple, she mumbled. Do you mean all you have to do is relax and keep your mind blank, she asked Marie? That's all, Marie replied. That should be easy for me, my mind goes blank quite a lot, even now. Don't confuse a blank mind with a day dreaming mind, said Marie. I tried to keep my mind blank just for a short time and it's not that easy. Something always wants to pop into the picture. It still doesn't seem that difficult, said Kelly. I could do this, she said. There doesn't seem to be anything too complicated about it. Oh, it looks easy enough, said Marie, but it is having the guts to try it, that is holding me back. I think that if I tried it, I probably would get out in the first try. It's what you do once you are out, that frightens me and what if you can't get back? Kelly was silent for a while, as she thought about what Marie had just said.

Sarah came over to join in on the conversation. What about your husband Kelly, she asked? Will he believe you or will he think you were dreaming all of this? You mean Jerry? Jerry is a Science Fiction writer, so he will probably believe all of it. I sometimes wonder if he hasn't already learned to astral travel. Some of the places he writes about could only exist in the astral world. He has offered me the book, to read on the subject, but I just can't read that stuff. I have faith enough in the future, to say that sooner or later he and I will both be astral travelers and we will probably enjoy many adventures together. When I tell him of this trip and show him the film, he will probably want to write a book about it. I'll be thinking of you, when I tell him, said Kelly. It will be interesting to see his reaction. My husband Bob won't believe a word of it, even with the film, said Marie. He works all day in the brewery and drinks all night with the boys No other type of life is real to him. He will probably call me crazy and flick on the tube, while he cracks open a beer. That sounds disgusting, said Allen, why do you put up with that? I don't want to break up the family and what about the kids? They need a father don't they? I guess I shouldn't get involved, said Allen, but I grew up with alcoholics and I know it's no fun. When the kids grow up a little more, I might leave him, said Marie, but no now.

Cliff's stomach growled during a lull in the conversation. Excuse me, he said embarrassed. I must be getting hungry. How much longer till supper Bishop, if you are still there? Ten minutes, came back the reply. Okay, I will hold off on having a snack then. He had put his camera and everything back in the case. He had run out of film anyway and others would film the dinner. I'll let you use my film of the dinner, said Marie. That's kind of you, Cliff replied. Do you mind if I ask you something about your hobby? Sure go ahead, she replied.

Where do you get your ideas for your toys? Do you wait for an inspiration or what? Sometimes I get an inspiration, but mostly I watch for opportunities to make something better or different from the original toy. My cards and my ball, for example, are extensions of just a plain ball or deck of cards. I ask myself; what can I do to make these simple toys better. Bo overheard the conversation and broke in. We will have a toy of sorts to show you before we leave Balenn, he said. Cliff didn't quite understand what Bo meant, but he smiled and said "great", waiting for Bo to elaborate. Bo remained silent, so neither Cliff nor Marie pursued it further.

What happens to this life support sphere, after we have gone Cliff asked Bo? It will be used again and again. Sometimes we modify it, to accommodate different life forms. There are times, when we entertain aquatic life forms, that the entire sphere is filled with water. Other times, we have to keep the temperature at minus ten degrees Celsius in here, to support a life form that lives in that normal temperature. These spheres are adaptable to almost any life support situation. At supper time, you will see how easy it is to change the sphere. Everyone please return to your seats for dinner, said Bishop.

They all sat there, expecting the glass table to return from lunch. They began to feel motion. This sphere is expanding, said Cliff, with surprise. Yes it is, said Beem. We need more room to accommodate the dinner table, so we are doubling the size of the sphere; the same way you would double the size of a balloon. The carpeted floor stretched, as if it was stretchable elastic. The walls dividing the living area, from the washroom and kitchen, also flexed like the carpet. As the walls stretched, they became thinner. The door frames and even the doors to the washrooms also became thinner. Ornaments hanging on the walls didn't change, except to adjust to the moving wall. The acoustics changed drastically. There was a hollow, echoing sound to their voices and from the sound system. The chairs and the furniture remained the same size, but became twice the distance apart. The motion stopped. There is lots of room for a big table now, said Cliff. That's an understatement, if I ever heard one, replied Kirby. We could roller skate in here now, it's so big.

There is something coming up to the sphere, said Allen, but it isn't a table, it looks like a rolled up carpet. The carpet passed through the sphere's shell, like it wasn't even there. It centered itself in the room and began to unravel. When it was fully unraveled, it was circular and it formed a table, approximately three meters in diameter. It undulated momentarily, as if trying to find a comfortable spot to rest. It stabilized itself and became rigid, as if sitting on a solid platform, seventy centimeters off the floor. It was green in color, with silver dollars imbedded every three centimeters more or less. Cliff counted a few of them and estimated sixty-five of them. There were slots for dish disposal, as on the earlier coffee table. Everybody assumed the silver dollars would turn into dishes and food. They all waited patiently. Allen pulled his chair up to the table first, to get a feel of the material. It was that soapy feeling stuff again, only this time it was a solid green in color. There were no legs supporting it and the space under it was free. Allen tried to move it, but couldn't. It was too sturdy. Dinner time accompaniments began to pop up, like the buns, butter, salt, pepper, etc; even a dish of pickles.

Can we pull up to the table now Bishop, asked Sarah anxiously? You sure can, replied Bishop, but watch for other items popping up. Okay gang, let's do it, said Kirby, already a good half way there. I'm with you, said Cliff, as he put down his equipment. The Ehesti stayed seated, but the rest of the group pulled their chairs up to the table, in anticipation of the meal.

The center silver dollars popped open first, displaying a beautiful bouquet of flowers, as a center piece. The eating dishes and utensils popped up next. Beenan and the rest of the Ehesti joined their guests at the table, even though they weren't going to partake in most of it. Do you want to say a before meal prayer Allen, asked Beenan? Not this time, replied Allen. If any of you want to say something, please go ahead. No one said boo. Okay if you feel the need to pray do it in your own mind, suggested Allen. Allen was still feeling embarrassed after the talk Beenan gave him a few days earlier, regarding mealtime prayers. It looks like we are going to have live entertainment, said Kelly, pointing at some activity beginning to occur.

Outside the sphere, a floating dinner band appeared, playing dinner music. They were human like shapes, looking very much like Lawrence Welk and his orchestra. Tiny bubbles were rising up past their faces, as though they were under water. The first course, of soup and tomato juice popped up on the green table. This left just twenty-five dollars in the central part of the table. Marie and Sarah poured themselves soup before the rest. They sipped it first, to sample it, while everyone else was staring at them, to see their reaction. It tastes a bit like chicken soup and maybe mushroom mixed, said Marie, waiting for Sarah's opinion. That would seem close, said Sarah, but it is very good. She smiled at those looking at her, as if approving the taste for everyone else. Allen and the rest helped themselves. There were croutons available, as well as some odd looking fat crackers that were also very tasty. The characters playing in the band changed form, into Muppet like creatures, but there was no change in the music. The Muppet creatures looked funnier and upped the mood of everyone a little. They disappeared when the first course was over. Everyone dropped their dirty dishes down the slots and waited for the next course to appear.

The music was changing to accommodate the changes on stage. The Muppet like creatures were scurrying off stage, picking up parts of their costumes on the way out. It looked like they were asked to leave, before they were ready. The yellow flowered surface appeared outside again, as in the very first event. Ten of the flowers grew higher than the rest and transposed into another orchestra. Their music was more lively then the first group. More flowers grew and changed into dancers. They began to dance in formation to the music.

The main course began to appear on the table. This time, there was simulated turkey, simulated ham and simulated beef; Chinese food of all sorts, vegetables and a huge salad. Various colored sauces popped up, along with the full wine glasses. The table was now a colorful array of piping hot food and the aroma was overwhelming. The dancing group, of which there were hundreds, now, danced to the tune "Auld Lang Syne". They grouped themselves to look like the continents of earth, as they would be seen from an orbiting satellite. The dancers on the outer edge of the globe like picture; would leave and quickly re-assemble themselves on the other side of the globe that was just coming into view. The effect produced was, as if the globe was turning. Although the show was fantastic, the supper was too. It was difficult to give each display its proper amount of attention. They tried not to miss anything that the dancers were doing, but the food captured their attention even more. Everyone passed various dishes around. The dishes were cool to the touch, but the food in them, was quite hot. They were all very hungry, so the dancers did not get much of their attention.

For the next fifteen minutes, they were pretty quiet while they enjoyed the food. The sound system wasn't quiet though. The music was light and instrumental, while they ate. To keep the spirits up during the meal, a voice would come up on the P.A. and attempt to tell bad jokes. The jokes were so corny, that everyone was laughing at each other's boos. It worked well though, by keeping everyone smiling while they ate. The dancers had regrouped and were moving to the light music that was now on. Their actions simulated a flowing brook, meandering down a gently slopped hillside.

The music began to crescendo. The dancers completed their number and departed. Everyone put down their utensils and clapped. The same orchestra remained this time, but they toned down quite a bit, to let a comedy act appear. There were three of them, dressed up like the Three Stooges. It was slap-stick comedy, with pies in the face and fingers in the eyes. The main course of supper, now being over with, would give them more time to concentrate on the entertainment. Everyone used the disposal slots again, to get rid of the garbage. Any crumbs or food particles left on the table wound up rolling into the dish slots, as though an invisible hand was cleaning the table. The table was clean and everyone sat back in their chairs.

At that point, the third course or dessert appeared. There was lemon pie, strawberry shortcake, ice cream loaf and chocolate covered cherries. Two more bottles of wine also appeared. While everyone ate dessert, the actors were doing a "king of the castle" routine. A hill of flowers appeared and Mo hurried to the top of it. Every time Curley or Larry would try to get up, Moe would push them back down. Finally, Larry removed Moe and he became the king. Curley had no luck at all. He was just too weak, so he grabbed a pair of grass shears and cut the stems of the castle flowers. Larry came tumbling down, with all the snipped flowers. They stood up and brushed themselves off. They began blaming one another for the incident, which led to the name calling part of their routine, finally culminating with the fingers in the eyes and the bops on the head routine. When they were done, they held hands and took a bow. Everyone applauded and the actors left.

The orchestra left and the outside returned to its normal bluish color. The music came back up inside the sphere. Everyone was just about finished and the dish slots were getting lots of use now. The dim blue of the outside began to change to green. Colored objects began to appear and move about in kaleidoscope fashion. There were no more dancers with scenic backgrounds. The entire space, outside the sphere, was filled with these brilliant colors, against a dark blue sky. Each color was in motion and short lived, just as the figures fade away in a toy kaleidoscope.

The last silver dollars popped open to produce coffee, after dinner mints, sweets and coffee cups. Kelly was first to pour herself a cup, so she got the sweet roll that was uppermost on the dish of sweets. Everyone else followed suit. They pushed their chairs back from the table, using their respective coffee tables, to put their food and drink on. Mo one suggested they leave the table, but everyone did it anyway, as though controlled by an invisible command. Funny how we all pulled back from the table at the same time, said Cliff. It’s not funny at all, replied Allen. We all saw the room expand to accommodate the large table, so it was just a natural reaction, to pull away back from the table to allow it's retreat and to let the sphere shrink back to it's original size, if it so wishes. Cliff didn't reply, but he wished he hadn't said such a dumb thing.

The table seemed to swallow everything that was left on it. Kirby had removed the coffee pot, in case anyone wanted more. He also removed the tray of after dinner sweets. Everyone watched the table, in anticipation of its next move. It didn't do anything for a few moments. The surface appearance of it changed to form a large circular face. The circle tilted up on a twenty degree angle, so everyone could see it. It formed a smile and lips synchronized with the voice on the sound system saying "We hope your supper was fun, too bad you didn't get any. It was looking at the Ehesti when it said that remark. The Ehesti laughed. We enjoyed serving you, but we must go now too. It's the end of part one, for some.

The table returned back to its flexible carpet form. It rolled itself up and removed itself, the same way it came in. Allen applauded and said "beautiful meal". Everyone else joined in with his applause and waved at the carpet, as it left the sphere. Who would have thought I would wave at a talking carpet, or table or whatever, Kelly said to herself, under her breath. Kirby was itching to quiz Beenan about the meat, but Allen beat him to it. I know that wasn't real meat, said Allen to Beenan, but it sure tasted just as good. You mean that wasn't turkey, asked Marie? No, there was no meat on the table at all, said Beenan. We know you are vegetarians at heart. The reason you don’t eat each other is the same reason you should not eat meat. It is the color, smell and taste of the meat. If you could produce those three elements on earth, then most of you would become true vegetarians. We will release these cooking secrets to you, if you like? Everything you ate, except the desserts, was made from vegetables and grain. When this journey is over, I will give you that information, if any of you want it? I do, said Sarah, raising her hand; me too, said Kelly. Just like back in school, eh Sarah, said Kelly smiling? Sarah looked confused. You know; raising your hand to get the teacher's attention? Sarah smiled too, thinking about it.

The kaleidoscope faded away and the dim blue returned. The music subsided again and Bishop announced, the astral trip, in thirty minutes. Will we be able to see you on the astral trip, asked Cliff? Yes, you will and I am looking forward to it, said Bishop. You will also get to meet all those who took part in this production. I don't mean you will meet a visible, physical being of course, but you will see us as well as we see you. That's super, said Sarah. So far, Balenn has seemed like a very unpopulated place to us.

Speaking of population, interrupted Allen, what about our planet earth? Is it over populated or is there room for more? That's a good question, replied Beenan. The obvious truth is; if China can support one billion people and feed them all, on the piece of land they have, then any other country should be able to do the same on their respective piece of land. This is of course, not an acceptable solution to most. I doubt very much if people living in the civilized countries, would want to live in such crowded conditions. In that sense than, you might say that the world is over populated now. Surely you have heard of our birth control methods, replied Allen. Don't you think they will work? The birth control trend that is in motion now, is slowing things down, but not with the right balance.

The birth control works well in educated countries, but not so good in the third world countries. The strong belief I mentioned in one of my earlier interviews, in your vulnerability, is shared by the third world countries to even greater extremes. They still believe their Gods supply the food and everything else they need. If there is no food, they do not take the necessary steps to get it, instead they call the famine, bad weather and illness, all acts of their Gods and it wouldn't help to try, as a mere mortal, to remedy anything. To this kind of thinking, you cannot possibly convince them that birth control will be of help to them, because all births and deaths are controlled by their Gods also. The rest of the world has now taken on the burden of feeding these people, which raises a philosophical point. If you have the right to take on the burden of feeding these people, than do you have the right to introduce birth control secretly, along with the food? A moral question, you will have to deal with sooner or later. Compared to the population of other planets, you are somewhere in between. As your wars become obsolete, population explosion will become even greater a problem. By then, you will be far enough into space travel, to colonize another planet, like Saturn perhaps.

Saturn indeed, said Cliff. How can we even convince the space program to shift it's priorities to Saturn? For those of you who were not there, I transposed to the planet Saturn a few days ago, with Beem and Bo. I heard or read something about that, said Kelly. Tell us about it. I was only there for about thirty minutes, with Bo and Beem replied Cliff. Kirby was too chicken to come along. Kirby smiled and made a face at Cliff, like kids do. Never mind the insults, said Kirby, tell them what it was like. It is a beautiful place, with a constant surface temperature of twenty degrees Celsius, said Cliff. The rings of Saturn are reflectors that maintain the constant temperature. We read that in your notes, said Allen. All the data we have so far, shows it to be an uninhabitable planet. Wait till you see the film, said Cliff. You will get a different perspective. We are getting a little bit off the topic, said Beenan. There are many other planets out there in your galaxy that will support your life forms, just as well as earth does. Some even have less gravity, which would allow you to do much more work. The possibilities are endless, as I think you are already becoming aware.

I just want to close by saying that, things are not happening haphazardly on earth. There is a major plan for the planet of which you are all part. Part of the eight hours you sleep every night, involves taking part in the discussion making process that controls your whole planet and everyone on it. You will not accidentally find yourselves over populated. The same way you are able to control the pollution on your planet, you will also be able to control the population, said Beenan. I still find it hard to believe that with all your Ehesti powers, you can't see into the future, said Kelly. If you can see the future, don't you feel impelled to warn us of any up-coming disasters? We can assume a probable course of events that an action will take, but remember it is always now. You all have the ability to interrupt any course of events, at any time, simply by deciding to do so. How can we or anyone, know for sure, what you are going to do; when you always have the power to stop or change what you do at any time? I guess I'm kind of brainwashed about that, from earth propaganda, said Kelly. Thanks for explaining Beenan. You must get tired of frivolous questions? No question is frivolous, said Beenan. I enjoy them all.

We still have fifteen minutes before our next event. If you have any more questions, fire away. Beenan was feeling a little better now. He loved to answer questions. Kirby spoke up. With all your knowledge and your love of life and everything, why do you choose living outside, on mountain tops, to a life like ours? To answer that, said Beenan, I must explain that being exposed to the elements of wind, sun, rain, etc., over long periods of time, produces in you a joy that only your fore-fathers can testify to. They spent most of their waking hours and many sleeping hours, in the outdoors. They enjoyed this way of life, as much as you and I do, except they were much closer to nature. They had an attachment to their horses and other animals, that none of this generation could understand. Some even found a way to communicate with their animals.

Spending all your time indoors, as most of you do, induces a fear of the outdoors. This fear serves to justify your reason for staying indoors. And the more you stay inside, the longer you allow this fear to grow. Around and around we go. To break this circle, you need to feel the magic of the outdoors, like your fore-fathers did. Try to spend time outside, in what you would consider the worst kind of weather. Dress yourself properly and stay outside, right through a storm or a blizzard. Don't go back inside until you are sure your mind has adjusted enough to allow you to laugh and enjoy this rottenest of days. Once you can enjoy the bad weather, the nice weather will become a reason to feel terrific for long periods of time. Sort of like self-hypnosis, said Beenan. This magic, if allowed to grow, can pull you away from your office job and out into the wilderness. You then create an association with the rest of the life forms on this planet that you could not even imagine, while caught up in the aforementioned circle. Beem and Bo and myself, enjoy this outdoor magic immensely, not unlike others from Balenn, and we seek it out often. I can feel the tug even now. Those of you, who live in the outdoors mostly, will know exactly what I mean. A feeling of claustrophobia comes over you after spending too much in the city. Does that answer your question, asked Beenan? It sure does, replied Kirby. I think I know the "tug" you speak of. The music dropped again and once again they heard those melodious tones of their host. Everyone knew what he was about to announce this time.
