More about Placebos
The more we rely on pills, the stronger the belief , the more likely a placebo will work. If we take a pill each day , that works each time, than another pill that tastes, looks, and smells like the original will work (providing there is no telepathic awareness of the switch) as a placebo for most of us.
We take the pill and the headache goes away. Proof that the pill works. Right? Of course we have to wait an hour for the pill to get into our system before it goes to work. Had we waited this one hour without taking the pill it would have gone away like most headaches do. Instead of believing this, we chose to believe that the pill cured us and it will again. Each time we take it thereafter, and it seems to work, we fortify our belief in the pill, until we need it. If instead we chose to believe that all headaches go away in one hour, people would laugh at us, so again we chose the mainstream belief in the pill. Any painkiller pill that works on you inside the first 2 minutes from when it was swallowed is working it's placebo effect on you because the pill hasn't had time to dissolve, let alone go to work on you. It takes up to an hour before all the chemicals are dissolved in the bloodstream ,where they can travel to the treatment area.
The placebo effect is an exercise that merely shuts off the power of our negative beliefs, and allows us to return to perfect health ( which is the norm) , until such time as we choose to dwell on the negative again , long enough to create more hardships for ourselves , that we may make the restitution we feel we need in order to advance the spirit.
The purpose of out existence must me extremely important, otherwise the controllers would not have taken away our ability to remember what it was like between incarnations. A vivid memory of existence without the trials and tribulations of physical life would only serve to make us long for the good times in between incarnations. Not knowing what to expect after death makes us less likely to seek it . Instead we decide to stay alive.
But in order to live , we must begin to die. All things living must eventually die-- right?
From the day we are born, we are bombarded with negative beliefs. Most of these negative beliefs stem from our so called " laws of nature" ie; gravity-you can't levitate :time--you can't live forever: water-drowns: fire-burns: Once we reach school age we are taught that we will catch the flu, catch colds, need inoculations to prevent these catchable maladies, and will need days off to accommodate them. Once we enter the work force , we are exposed to the possibility of accidents, inevitable stress, malnutrition unless we take supplements, poverty if we don't work, general deterioration of the body with age, vulnerability to life threatening diseases and eventually body part dysfunction. The accumulation and acceptance of these negative beliefs, serve to fortify the tenet that we must eventually pass away. We need these negative beliefs if we are to give up this life around our 80s or 90s. The only way we can avoid this scenario is to participate in some legitimate exercise that will do the job for us --like a war .
Once we realize that we are ignorant slaves to our beliefs, we can begin to change them.
Beliefs are created out of proof.
Seeing that all objects of matter are attracted to the earth is proof that gravity exists and we are matter too so we must be earth bound. In religions of great discipline , there are those who defy this law of gravity and levitate , using meditation. We could , from this proof of levitation, develop our own belief that we need not succumb to gravity. Instead we choose not to, and accept the fact that this levitator is a freak or at the very least a fake. It's easier, more comfortable, and seemingly necessary to go with the mainstream belief of gravity. If we could all levitate, what chaos that would cause /!! , or would it ?
So who cares !? If it works , what does it matter if its a real drug or a placebo, as long as it works.
If we accepted that statement then we would never investigate any further. In order to advance the spirit we need to push on the boundaries of our beliefs.
That adage " if it works don't fix it " ....If it doesn't work, we feel it is our obligation to at least try and fix it, therein learning all about it . By the time we've fixed it , we know all there is to know about it, so if it breaks again there'll be no problem. If we didn't touch it because it was working , than we would continue to know nothing about it. Which is better??!
What we're getting into now is thought control. Someone said "all things begin with thought". "Those who control their thoughts, control their destiny". If beliefs make us who we are and the decisions we make shape our lives , than the thoughts that motivate us to make these decisions are critical.
Are all our thoughts our own , or is there a source that comes in to fill the vacuum created by the thoughtless mind?
Other people's opinions help to shape our thoughts. Reading material from both live and dead people help to influence our thoughts. So do we really have our own thoughts or are we just an accumulation of the words, and ideas of others?
Who are we when we are analyzing our own thoughts? Are we more than one spirit, one who thinks and one who analyzes. When we talk to ourselves are we the speaker or the listener? or both?
We are the analyzer or the listener. Proceeding through life requires that we make thousands of decisions, but only after examining the probabilities. The presentation of the probabilities is the voice we here or the words we here in our thoughts. As soon as the thought is exposed, it becomes part of the past, where it is then analyzed and a decision as to whether to accept the thought a part of us or to reject it as mere drivel, or rerun etc.
The act of having the thought is the connecting link between our physical being and our (not so physical ), or spiritual self. There is no place closer to the future , in the now, than the time of thought creation. Everything begins with thought, and the leading edge of that thought is almost in the future.
The ultimate state of our evolution could be to eventually combine our physical and our after life modes of existence as one simultaneous awareness. That would end the need for negative thought, and simplify the live-death transition. When the 9/10th of our brain that is not used today evolves to where it is all used , we will no longer "need to die". That evolvement might take a few years.
One of the benefits of not being aware of our previous incarnations is not having anyone remember the lousy person we were in the last life. If we abused others in our last live, no-one in this life is aware of that. If we were evolved to where we see into the afterlife and all the incarnations but we weren't "clean" , than others would resent us for transgressions we made 2 or 3 lifetimes ago.
We must have to evolve to a point where we have been "clean" for the last 3 or 4 incarnations ,so that when we are given the gift of simultaneous awareness , we will not feel resentment for anyone and no-one will feel resentment for us.
We are not all that different from the computers we are using. The computer being "on" is like our brain being awake. When the computer is off it doesn't lose any data nor do we lose any knowledge when we sleep. Our thoughts are in the form of linear streams not unlike data streams in the computer. A collection of data forms a program, as a collection of thoughts allows us to perform an event. Like doing the dishes. Pick up the dish/ pick up the cloth/wipe the dish with the cloth/rinse the dish/ put dish in rack/pick up another dish lol - guess what my favorite domestic chore is ?! etc. etc. etc.
Beliefs too are a linear chain of minor acceptances. To catch the flu , here's what the belief string looks like. #1 Main belief that we must die/ #2 we are imperfect/#3we are vulnerable/#4 The flu is contagious/#5we'll likely get it too/#6we've got it/#7 we have to let it run its course
If any of the above beliefs were to be reversed, we would not get the flu.
Each belief involves thought control. If you are one of those people who "never catches the flu" than you probably never will unless something happens to change your belief. You may sneeze or cough or feel fever. Your thoughts should be " that's just my body making some adjustments to keep me healthy". Your most likely thought would be Oh I wonder if I'm coming down with something ? That weakens your positive thoughts about your invulnerability enough to increase the symptoms intensity and that intensity increase if the "proof" that you have the flu . Once you believe you have it , than you have to let it run its course .
All our thoughts are critical to our wellbeing. Even the simple thought decisions like " that glass is half empty, or that glass is half full " determine our positive or negative attitudes. Positive attitudes make us happy and negative ones make us sad. Sadness causes stress which manifests itself in the form of bad luck and illness.
The next time you "catch" the flu, refuse to believe it. Even though all the symptoms are there, don't accept the fact that you have the flu. Your body is simply making changes, in the form of flu symptoms, to accommodate your beliefs. The flu bug doesn't multiply in you. Your body " which is a sophisticated chemical factory, manufactures duplicates of the virus, because it thinks that's what you want, because you believe in it.. If you were one of those people who " never catch the flu", that belief would give the command to your body not to duplicate the virus.
This brings to level #2
In level #2 we will examine what we know and try to extrapolate with some serious unanswered questions.
When is a placebo not a placebo? When is a placebo illness not a placebo illness ?
If the human body is capable of manufacturing viruses, than what else is it capable of manufacturing? Could it be that every illness we acquire throughout our lives is manufactured by our own bodies ? Conversely is it possible that every cure is a placebo?
If a placebo illness is an illness of convenience, than can we assume that all illnesses have a certain amount of convenience to them?
The placebo pill is a chemical, even though it is merely sugar and water. To heal the body does the placebo give instructions to the brain to manufacture the correct chemicals , as in the non placebo pill?
Consider the placebo operation. When the patient was told he needed a knee operation to fix his knee joint, the doctors cut his knee open but did not do the operation and sewed him back up again. The knee repaired itself as though it had been operated on. The patient believed he had been give the proper operation and his belief in the doctors and the medical system was so strong he healed himself, not knowing about the placebo operation.
It is entirely possible that we are deliberately making ourselves ill and deliberately giving ourselves bad luck because we don't believe we are worthy. Perfect health and good luck seem like rewards bestowed on the most deserving of us only.
If the "convenience" of the placebo illness is to make restitution, than there may be no end to our suffering.
Something must be drastically wrong with all the human race for this scenario to be true.
We may have to treat all our afflictions the same way we treat a phantom event. When a limb or our teeth are extracted, for a certain amount of time we still get the toothache and still feel the sore limb. This pain is every bit as strong as though the extraction had not even happened. Eventually our common sense takes over and says " its impossible for your teeth to ache because you have no teeth. It's impossible for your arm to hurt anymore because you have no arm. With those commands given to ourselves , it takes no time at all for the phantom symptoms to disappear . The proof is there staring us in the face. You have no teeth or you have no limb. That proof is the foundation for the belief that you cannot have anymore pain . The pain disappears.
The fact that the pain occurs every bit as intense, even though the source is eliminated , puts this pain into the same placebo category as illness of convenience.
If we could somehow apply similar commands to ourselves regarding the afflictions we have now , maybe they would also disappear. We would need some kind of proof that we really don't have the affliction. With phantom pain the proof is obvious, but with other pain there is a need to prove to ourselves that the pain is just as unfounded.
If everything begins with thought, than we need to identify the thoughts that are causing the affliction.
With illness of convenience, the thought patterns are pretty obvious.
Lets start with a work accident. Here's the thought patterns that produce the accident.( I hate this job. I've got to get high on the weekends just to relieve the stress from this dumb job. I'll pretend to have the flu so I can get a few days off. I've got to keep this job because jobs are scarce and my wife would shoot me if I was to quit. The money's too good , I can't quit. If I don't quit how will I get a better job. It's my responsibility to keep working and support my family. Welfare is not an option. I'll stick it out for a few more months and than see what happens. Workers compensation insurance pays 75% of my wages )
Much of your work puts you in harm's way. You wear protective clothing and safety signs are everywhere so you will stay alert. A colleague shouts to you, with a question-type joke. For a split second you turn to answer him (boom) it happens. You have the accident.
You are rushed to the hospital and everyone shows much compassion towards you. No one blames you, because it's an accident. The colleague blames himself for distracting you and feels guilty. You are completely off the hook, as far as blame goes and you even begin to believe it yourself. Except for one thing. You knew full well how dangerous your work was, yet you chose to turn away and react to your colleague. That choice caused the accident.
Life is sure a bed of roses now ! You don't have to go to that job you hated. The insurance company ( after hearing what caused the accident,) is happy to pay you for the accident . The colleague is reprimanded for distracting you. You might be incapacitated for a while but you'll get by with the insurance money and you'll have more time for your family. While you are laid up you can look for that job you really want.
You know who's really to blame for the accident and now you have to live with the guilt. It's a permanent thing you did and the guilt will never go away. You will spend years of your life trying to make amends for that decision and the guilt will continue to manifest itself in the form of bad luck and further hardship.
With the proper thought control the entire scenario could have been avoided. Here's how the thought patterns should have played out. ( I don't like my job but I don't hate it. If I try to think positive, I might even get to enjoy my work. I'd better regulate my "good times" and not drink too much so I wont be hung over at work and become a hazard myself. If I spent some time at it, I'll find a better job, but for now this one's not that bad. I'd better be careful because I've seen others have accidents by not thinking properly. ) With these thoughts and not the negative one's presented earlier, there would have been no accident and no guilt and no ensuing bad luck. THOUGHTS ARE CRITICAL !
The triggering mechanism that makes our brain generate the illness has to be a thought pattern or feeling, if we have any control over our own destiny. If someone else controls our life "like God" than it dose not matter what we think.
As we go through life we make major core decisions. The basic one being " do I want to live to a ripe old age or do I want to die young and miss all the discomforts of old age.
Should we chose a shorter life than the brain has to begin to set up the stage for early death. It can begin an early deterioration of one of the major organs or it can convince you that you like to participate in some form of dangerous sport or work. Either option will produce an avenue to a short lifespan.
Should we chose a long life than the brain has to make sure it produces the chemicals necessary to preserve the major organs and it has to convince you that you prefer the more docile life style so as to keep us out of harm's way.
Once that major decision has been made, than every event in our life will lead to fulfilling that core desire.
The lack of pain (if only for a moment) is proof that the pain is not really there. The pain itself is proof that the pain is real and the lack of pain is proof that there is no pain.
The proof we dwell on produces the reality. This is one of the hardest mental exercises we can practice. The proof of the pain's existence is so overwhelming that it is very difficult to counter it. First we believe the cause exists. Almost everyone you know has caught the flu. It must be real. The invisible germ or virus is an accepted fact . The damage they cause is also well known. If it's a more serious affliction ( like cancer or other major disease ) we can name hundreds of people who have it and have died from it. Proof positive of its reality. Or is it ?
The initial belief in our vulnerability and our imperfection creates its own guilt.
If you know anyone who is extremely wealthy , you are aware of the guilt they harbor. In an attempt to dispel the quilt, most of their time is spent trying to decide what to do with the wealth. Which charity gets how much? How do I avoid being duped ?
This guilt is life long unless they try to get rid of it by doing something stupid and losing all their money. Another group might take to drugs in an attempt to get rid of the guilt. Some become defensive about it that they cant make any more friends because everyone seems to be trying to take advantage of them . Others develop a miserable disposition to repel any further would be friends.
To be perfectly healthy throughout one's life seems impossible. That disbelief also creates its own guilt. There is a comfort in catching a flu that all your friends have already had. It makes you feel like part of the system instead of the isolation you would feel if you never got sick.
To dispel this guilt one might resort to faking the flu symptoms. Cary on this fake for any length of time and it turns into the real thing.
Who wants to listen to a person talk about how healthy they are. An account of how close we came to death with the affliction we had makes for far more interesting conversation.
To dispel the guilt that comes with perfect health we have to share our knowledge of how it's done. To heal someone is not enough. We have to teach them to heal themselves. There are no healers. There are only those who can convince the inflicted that they may heal themselves. The infliction itself is a placebo.
There is no intention here to discredit the healers of today. In years to come they will adapt to this new understanding of placebos, and direct their efforts toward having the patient heal himself rather than using today's methods of surgery and pills. Psychological manipulation and thought controlling procedures will become their tools of tomorrow.
