We are pleased to announce that plans are well under way for Northern Wings IV! The venue this year will again be the fabulous Alberta Aviation Museum and a date of Saturday, October 2, 2010 has been chosen. Attendance and entries were up last year with a total of 174 models on the tables and we look forward to great numbers again this year. 2010 THEME AWARD: We are excited to announce that we will continue our theme award in 2010. The new theme will be the North American B-25 Mitchell! 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honourable Mention places will each receive an award that includes a section of the wing spar from the museum's B-25 that is under restoration! Any B-25 Mitchell model is eligible for entry in the theme award category. A big thank you to the Alberta Aviation Museum for helping with the procurement of the B-25 wing spar for our use and of course, for the use of their fabulous facility! The 1st place trophy is shown below:
We look forward to seeing everyone in October! Northern Wings is a model contest and exposition which intends to bring new and experienced modelers together in a relaxed social environment for the purpose of promoting the hobby. We hope to provide modeling inspiration through the opportunity to view the many models and full scale aircraft on display at our aviation museum venue. While the event is labeled as a contest, we hope that we can create a friendly environment where winning is secondary. To encourage this, prize categories will be theme based, and there will be no traditional 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. Please see the Rules & Categories page for more information. Highlights of the show will include:
