 Reduce
Reducing the amount of waste means consuming and
throwing away less. Waste reduction includes purchasing long lasting, durable goods that
have no toxins. By reducing the amount of waste in the first place, it is the most
preferable method of waste management and goes a considerable distance towards protecting
the environment.
Reuse
Reusing products more than once, either for the same
purpose or in a total new way also reduces waste. By simply repairing, donating or selling
an item one can eliminate disposing of items in landfills. Reusing is preferable to
recycling because an item does not need to be remanufactured.
Recycle
Recycling turns material that would otherwise be
waste into new products. This in turn generates a host of financial, social and
environmental benefits. Once materials are collected they are separated and sent to
facilities to be process into new materials and products.
