We were pleased that so many of our neighbours joined us for the Family Harvest Party on October 31st. We had fun, ate too much and made a big mess! We had a variety of games set up. The Fishing Pond was a popular attraction for our youngest visitors. (No magnetic fish were hurt during the evening!) |

The Pumpin Walk was a great draw for all ages. This variation of a cake walk didn't give pumpkins as prizes
though...candy was far more popular.
Apple Bobbing provided some very wet entertainment. Thankfully, "Doctor John" brought several towels. Who's idea was it to use those incredibly deep Rubbermaid bins?! |
| The Balloon Pop was a big hit
with the older set. Who can resist the opportunity to hurl very
sharp darts at brightly-coloured balloons filled with confetti?
When people needed a break from the games, they could head over to the food table to snack on yummy treats. Crafty folks whipped up a cute, little, pipe-cleaner Bee to stick on their fridge. Perhaps it will remind them of how very glad we were that they could bee here! (Groan!) |

Our very own Raggedy Ann supplied head
gear for those who came underdressed.
Speaking of costumes... Angels, clowns, dragons, doctors, fairies, firemen, hippies, a strange-looking farmer and a nun were all seen wandering around the premises. Pastor Don came dressed in sweatpants. Someone teased him about what he was supposed to be. He replied that he was a pastor every other day, so tonight,...he was just a guy in sweatpants! |

Throughout the evening, 30 lucky people won tickets
for the "Cracked Egg Scramble". At about 7:30 pm, the
crowd moved outside to witness this bizarre but amusing activity.
Imagine throwing eggs out the second floor window at two grown men dressed
hard hats and rain gear. It was a silly but fun event that provided
many laughs for the participants as well as the
crowd.
(No edible eggs were harmed during this event. The eggs were "cracks" obtained from a farm in Abbotsford.) |

The Smashing Pumpkins (not the band!) made an appearance. Willing volunteers chucked our jack-o-lanterns out the previously mentioned second story window! Thankfully the egg-covered guys in hard hats had made a hasty retreat. The teasing crowd was heard to chant, "Clean up, clean up!" during the tossing events. (A cruel reminder of the consequences of all this fun!) | ![]() |
Finally, a few fireworks were shot into the cold, black sky to close off the evening and say to those that joined us,
