Warmer weather is upon us… what better excuse to be social?  I’ll tell you about exciting events coming up, but first, let’s get a recap of what’s gone on.  We’ll get an eyewitness report from Teresa Miller, our Resource Chair, from our last TS Family Social.  Teresa?

Family Swim Day was a Super Fun Day!

The activities at the Grant MacEwan College Wellness Centre on February 26 were a huge success. This can only be measured by the pure joy and fun the TS kids and their siblings had while swimming and then again afterward at the potluck.

About 40 people attended this function and were all rewarded with a fantastic day.  The parents spent time in the water and sitting on the deck watching and visiting.  The TS kids wasted little time being shy with one another and quickly gathered to play on the equipment in the pool. They swam hard and ate lots then watched some gruesome sport bloopers, which delighted their big imaginations. Dads loved them too!) It was great to see our kids together feeling relaxed and socially accepted by their peers. Kudos, kids!

Thanks, Teresa! And, indeed folks, let me tell you what we have in store for the coming months.

Upcoming...

In early June, we’re planning a TS Family Picnic in the Park. Join us in Emily Murphy Park on June 11th at 2PM as we celebrate summer!  It’s always fun for the kids to get together and for the parents to relate stories and for all to eat some good food!  We weren’t able to get a shelter at any of the parks, so we’ll be going on the hopes of good weather!  Emily Murphy Park is located just east of Groat Road on Emily Murphy Park Hill, and is just down from the U of A Campus. For more information, call Heather at 432.5424, or keep an eye on our website.

In the fall, we’re going to be attending an Edmonton Eskimos game, so get ready to cheer on the Green and Gold!  Please let me know if you’re interested ahead of time, so I’ll know how many tickets to request.  The number again, 432.5424!  We extend an invitation to all of these events to adults with TS as much as to families, of course!!  Hope you’ll come out and join the fun. Till next time, adieu!
