     Christopher was born at Frederick Co., Maryland, USA, in 1807. He was the son of Reece Collins and Mary Brooke. He married Cynthia Speers at Floyd Co., Kentucky, USA, on 18 May 1832.

     Cynthia was born at Floyd Co., Kentucky, USA, in 1818. She was the daughter of Thomas Speers and Rutha Lane. She married Christopher Collins at Floyd Co., Kentucky, USA, on 18 May 1832. As of 18 May 1832,her married name was Collins.

     Their children were; William A., Edith, Sylvia J., Martha Ann, and John Putnam. Sarah was born on 27 July 1848. She was the daughter of William Gobble and Edith Phelps. She married Ambrose T. Dorman on 18 April 1869. As of 18 April 1869,her married name was Dorman. Sarah was listed as Ambrose T. Dorman's wife on the 1900 Census at Kingston, Meeker Co., Minnesota, USA. Sarah died on 20 October 1909 at age 61.

     Ambrose was born in 1836. He married Sarah J. Gobble on 18 April 1869. Ambrose died on 24 June 1890. Ambrose was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census at Kingston, Meeker Co., Minnesota, USA.

     Their children were; Rose J., William, Charles V., John A., Earnest, Bailey Everett, Myrtle Alifare, Jefferson, and Clarence (or Jackson). George was born on 22 June 1852. He was the son of William Gobble and Edith Phelps. He married Louisa Crider circa 1875. George died on 1 December 1926 at age 74.

The family moved to America, arriving August 27, 1739 at Philadelphia on the ship Samuel and settling in what is now Upper Salford Township in Montgomery County. Church records show that the wife and two infant sons accompanied Phillip on the voyage. He was one of the first elders of Old Goshenhoppen Lutheren Church in Montgomery County. Names of various family members appear frequently in the churchbook. Only one record of the marriage of one of the children was found.

John Phillip, Junior, and his wife had one son, John Phillip III. At the time of their marriage she was the widow of Killian Gauckler and the mother of eight children. She died September 5, 1802 at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 5 days. Her maiden name was Bittel or Bittle. Both are buried in the cemetary behind Old Goshehoppen Church. His tombstone shows that he lived "36 years in wedlock and 5 1/2 years as a widower".

John Phillip III was born July 26, 1768 and died October 4, 1835. He married Catherine Schneider December 3, 1797. She was born 1776 and died 1822. They had three sons and six daughters, and are buried in the aforementioned cemetary.

This branch of the Gabel family apparently remained in Pennsylvania for many years. The name became anglicized in spelling and in pronunciation to Gable, as shown in the History of The Gable Family, by Frank Allaben, 1906. This publication likewise shows no location of the graves of the senior John Phillip and his wife.

There were many German immigrants in this area of eastern Pennsylvania which was then in Philadelphia County. Those of the Lutheran and Reformed faiths decided to build a school and church building. An agreement was signed May 19, 1744 by the two congregations regarding the use of the new church building being erected then. The building is located on Church Road southwest of Skippack Road, just northwest of Salfordville, Pennsylvania. The sanctuary is on the second floor, with class rooms at ground level. The building is still used by two congregations - Lutheran and United Church of Christ. On the front of the building, a nameplate bears these words: Old Goshenhoppen Lutheran and German Reformed Church, Built 1744 and Rebuilt 1858, Annexed and Remodeled 1915.. Johann was born on 14 August 1698. He was the son of Hans Jacob Gabel and Maria Margretha Rheinmueller. He married Elisabetha Catharina Culmann in 1735. Johann died circa 1776.
