Welcome to Janine's Diabetes and Insulin Pump Web page

Diabetes: types, blood sugars and what the DCCT says to people with diabetes.
Insulin Pumps: A major step towards better and longer lives.
Janine's Pump FAQ: Questions about wearing a pump, Pros and Cons, and what it can cost.
Infusion 101: How it all attaches.
Denial: My denial story and what I think denial is.
Diabetes Links: Useful diabetes related links, including a link to a University of Alberta islet transplant study that seems to have cured the people involved in it. One caveat: I have heard that after 3 years, the islets wear out, and you are back to square one. There are a limited number of transplants availalbe (maybe 10 in BC in a year, due to lack of organ donors), so that it something to keep in mind. Research it!
Mappa Mundi: A thankfully brief glimpse into my psyche - and my dog page!

Again, it all needs to be updated. I got a new pump, Minimed's Paradigm 712, which is great! I got the software to download all the info too, so once I find time to install it I am sure it will be useful. Next step it the integrated Guardian, which takes blood glucose every 5 minutes, so you can see in RT what is going on. So cool....
