Information
Whether exploring the reservoir
or nearby waterways of Weaselhead in a recreational canoe or
kayak, or looking for a new outdoor alternative to
staying in (or getting into) shape. Make the sport of paddling
a pursuit in your life with a low-cost membership to the Calgary
Canoe Club.
If you would like to join the
Calgary Canoe Club, you can either apply in person, or print
the Membership Form

them both with a cheque payable to the Calgary Canoe Club.
Please DO NOT fax in membership forms. Bring the
original down the first time you visit or MAIL.

Membership is open to the
public and provides:
- Free on-reservoir use of the
Calgary Canoe Club's recreational canoes and kayaks.
- Access to Marathon, Outrigger, Sprint
Racing competitive programs.
How to Apply
- Download a membership form and mail or bring in person
- Visit us as of May 1st, boat bays will be open,
weather permitting
Boat availability
- We have 30 WW kayaks and 28 two man recreation canoes.
Boats are available on a first come first serve
basis, it is rare we run out. The boat bay staff can let you
know if we have any large kayak groups booked (this occurs on
a few occasions in July and August 2-5:30pm).
Prerequisites required ?
- No prerequisites are required for membership. We
strongly suggest you take a lesson on canoeing and kayaking
before going on the water. Boat bay staff will offer an
orientation for all new members to the equipment.

Operation
Spring Hours
The boat bays are open
Monday to Friday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. in May and June. On the
weekends we are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (new for
2008) Boat bay
hours are weather permitting, so if the weather is poor please
call ahead to make sure we are still open. (If you would like
to paddle before 4 p.m., please call ahead to make
arrangements for signing out a boat.)
Summer Hours
In July and August the boat bay is open 8:30 a.m. to 8:30
p.m., Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (new
for 2008) Saturday and Sunday.
Fall Hours
The boat bays are open Monday to Friday from 4 to 8:00
p.m. in September and October. On the weekends we are open
from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Boat bay hours are weather and
daylight permitting, so if the weather is poor please call ahead to
make sure we are still open. (If you would like to paddle
before 4 p.m., please call ahead to make arrangements for
signing out a boat.)
Guest policies
Members are encouraged to bring guests to the club
and introduce them to paddling. Guests are allowed to join
members in a canoe at any time. However, if you would like to
introduce kayaking to your guests we would like to give your
guest an orientation session and go over the basics. Please do
not use a sprayskirt if you have no previous experience, in
particular, with wet exits.
Your guest will not be charged if he is sharing a canoe
with you. Guest fees are charged for additional boats (canoes
and kayaks). Guest fees: Full day, $10. Half day, $5.
Please note: Guests are not entitled to take canoes or
kayaks off the reservoir. Canoes may be rented only when the
guest is accompanied by a member.
