The 2012 World Outrigger (Va'a) Sprint Championships are coming to Calgary in August. We are hard at work planning. 2011 Outrigger/Marathon Course & Program Descriptions

There are two fee structures for the 2011 season.

1. Coaching/Full time Program
Structured coaching sessions will be offered 2-3 x per week during the season with the focus on the busy months May-August. This program is for experienced paddlers looking for challenging 90+ minute workouts.

Tues am/Thurs pm, Sat am – Coached sessions focused on technique, intervals, V1, small boats, race prep. Team leader – Lynda Roberts.

Cost: $245 plus your Club membership, plus your CORA or AB marathon fees (depending on your race intentions). Full for 2011.

2. Boat access/Part time coaching
This program allows paddlers access to all OC and marathon boats. Access to small boats is limited during coached sessions Tues am, Thurs evening and Sat am. Competitive paddlers have boat priority during these slots. For boat use at all other times it will be on a first come first serve basis.

Cost: $175, plus your Club membership, plus your CORA or AB marathon fees (depending on your race intentions)

Wed 6:15-8pm – development night, OC6 practices, technique, intro to small boats – Volunteer coaches and steerspersons required.

Saturday am coached sessions will be organized based on the race schedule and coach availability.

Friday Night 'Fights' is becoming an regular occurrence. All members are welcome to attend. A variety of fun team boats will be set up followed by a BBQ on the deck afterwards.

*All new paddlers to the Club and program must go through an orientation session or coach led session prior to taking out any boats, contact Lynda for info.

All paddlers will sign out in the Adult Competitive sign out book. Boat bay staff will oversee the sign out process so please cooperate. This is to ensure boat priority is given to coached led program participants as well as security and safety reasons.
