Pere Lachaise Cemetery, Paris. One of my favourite, very identifiable artists, who inspired one of my own self-portraits called “Modigliani Me.“ His life touches me as another very sad and tragic example of an artist who experienced destructive self-indulgences and a lack of deserved recognition during his lifetime. Only two days after the 1920 death of 35 year old Amadeo Modigliani, (due to health complications linked with alcoholism), his distraught, and almost 9 months pregnant common-law wife threw herself out of the window of her parent’s 5th floor apartment.
